McWilliam's Brand's of Coonawarra Patron's Reserve

Deep red with some bricking, berries and chocolate, softened nicely by age. This is in a lovely space right now - some may say over the hill, but I feel that it has shed its brashness and is showing a smooth maturity.

NobleRottersSydney - McWilliams & Orlando (Darling Mills, Glebe) : Here the style changes completely. Deep red in colour, blackberry aromas and a serious chocolate/vanilla quality (despite the use of French oak) are the hallmarks here. It falls short of a caricature-blockbuster, and so remains a very attractive wine, full bodied, with a good balance across the palate (which I would expect, given the nature of the blend).
