Slightly saturated cork that was hard to extract. Deep ruby appearance with very slight garnet on the rim for this bottle. Medium+ intensity nose with primary notes of cassis, blackberry, dark plum, mint. Secondary oak notes prominent with vanilla, sweet spice, More tertiary development on this with tobacco, leather, forest floor notes. Medium+ acid, medium+ soft tannin. Full body. Medium flavour intensity. Medium+ finish. I think this is a poor bottle. Drinkable but clearly lacking the intensity of other bottles …

Deep ruby appearance. M+ intensity nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry, dark plum, mint. M+ acid, high powdery tannin, high alcohol, full body, M+ flavour intensity, M+ finish. Very good quality. Excellent balance and very good intensity. Right now, I'd say it's just lacking a little complexity to be considered outstanding, but based on this bottle still has considerable room for improvement which may yield an even higher rating. That said, it is drinking well already with good integration. Excellent …

Hitting on all phases! Tannin and oak integrated allowing the fruit to shine, drink now but still has plenty of life from the acidity.

PnP but really needed decanting. Better the 2nd day. Great value at $18!

One hour slow ox. Deep dark magenta color. Anise, leather, and blackberry jam on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with nice acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

PnP and really enjoyed this (I know I said decant next time!). Restrained and excellent QPR at $18 (in 2017).

Today I had this wine again. It had improved noticeably in a very short time and was a pleasure to drink (a friend said he would give it 92 points). It was sufficiently enjoyable that I gave it 91 points. (The wine is the house cab at a good local restaurant.)

Tasting the wine today I noticed a slight but definite improvement over the last time I had it (I had it with Chicken Mole). I gave it 89 points.

On the downslope?? The nose seems off, and is pretty generic on the palate. The nose dissipates with some timet. Should have decanted.

Decanted for an hour before enjoying this with venison chops covered in a chanterelle duxelles sauce. A little generic, without some of the deep cabernet flavors, but a very good wine at an excellent price.

This was a whirlwind of a tasting evolution. Day-1 it was meh and almost poured it down the drain. Day-2, things started to come together and show more balance. Day-3, whoah... did someone switch this with a Howell Mountain Cab? It really showed some complexity, good weight, great balance, and a good finish. I'm glad I stuck it out.

Agree with others that this is big but balanced, and goes great with a steak. Medium (+) ruby in color. Aromas of dark and dark red fruits, tangerine, dry leaves and spices, and graphite minerality. Medium (+) body and finish, medium acid, with flavors of dark red fruits, lemon, vanilla, spices, and minerals. I'm not sure how this will age, but it's drinking great right now, so as Suckling says (sorry) "why wait?". Gotta give it up, this is pretty …

Popped and poured. Aromas of cassis, menthol. Gentle black fruit flavor up front, complex finish with licorice, earth, spice, some heat. 14.5% ABV. Good, muscular, but non-steroidal CA Cab that stays under control and allows room for the underlying flavors to come through. Excellent value.

Medium ruby color with slow legs. Aromas of medium toast, oak and black currant (cassis). On the mid palate red currant, blackberry, plum, mushroom and black pepper. The body is medium/full, has leathery texture and finishes long.

After a month of drinking overpriced Napa cabs, this really shined, especially for the price. A great daily drinker but probably not something to hold onto for more than a year or two.

Great wine for $18. Good strong notes on the nose of plums and sweet fruit, long legs, jammy texture and on the palate tart sour cherries with a medium length finish. A really great value.
