Pop and pour and tasted at the end of an evening fo dinner with wine. Dark ruby color. There is a slight - very slight - musty note that suggest it could be cork taint. Blows off but has me thinking. Sour cherry and mushroom are the primary flavors. Wonderful acidity that keeps it fresh, with the unami from mushroom and sun dried tomatoes coming in. That faint hint of cork taint though is a detraction. Could be flawed but …

Moderate settled sediment. Medium ruby; moderately aromatic, bright cherry, earthy, with some aeration a bit of herbal (which becomes more pronounced with a bit of anise as it aerates more); palate is medium bodied, medium-plus acid, integrated medium tannins, smooth silky mouthfeel, slightly elevated alcohol (though label says 13%), most prominent character is juicy primary sour cherry fruit that starts right when the wine hits your palate and continues through a medium-plus finish. A lovely, balanced, elegant, food-friendly sangiovese with …

Consistent with previous note. Elegance and power, still very young.

No formal notes. Classic, structured with beautiful cherries, crushed stones, herbs and great minerality. The nose is nothing short of stunning. Youthful acidity, fine structured tannins and an overall powerful palate needs a few more years to come together imo. Wonderful already with huge potential.

Slow-ox'd for 3 hours, consumed over the next four. This got better as the night went on, leading me to believe it's got years of life left. Lovely tobacco, earth and floral aromatics gliding over a deep core of cherry fruit. A hint of menthol and nice fresh lift at the end kept me coming back for another sip. Like some others have stated, this would put a lot of pricier bottles to shame.

Bolognese and doughnuts (Tim's, SF) : Out of the bottle, this was brilliant! Medium minus ruby color. Expressive nose of dried flowers, dark cherry, slight spice from brett, and a wisp of blackberry liqueur. Earthy and shifting and floral all at the same time, with a gorgeous fruit core. Medium bodied, moderate alcohol, elevated acid, medium tannins. Persistent finish. Texture is like satin mixed with dried flower petals. The clarity of expression is impressive - the aromatics are elegant, not …

Pop and pour and tasted with food (spaghetti with a pomodoro-basilico sauce, in case you were wondering). Then recorked and tatsed the following day. Earthy mose, showing red clay and plum and black cherries. Flavors of dried cherries, some arthy notes, and good acidity. Well made but not quite outstanding. Paired well with the food.

Clear, pale intensity, ruby color. Medium(+) intensity of aromas on the nose. Initially a bit of funky kriek notes but the nose is mostly about bright cherry, dried strawberry, fresh herbs, lavender, gravel dust and moist soil. Medium bodied with medium, firm, tannins and medium(+) acidity. Medium(+) intensity, softer and more juicy mouthfeel than other old school Chianti. This is leaning more against elegant, refined Burgundy than rustic Chianti Classico. Drinking very well today but can be kept for another …

This is a blend of Sangiovese, Colorino, Mammolo, and Foglia Tonda combining four indigenous bio-dynamically cultivated Tuscan grapes. A disappointing showing. Decanted over 2 hours. This was extremely soft and lithe, lacking a mid-palate and grip. Maybe this needs more time.

Pop and pour and served with food (grilled hangar steaks and risotto, in case you were wondering). Good dark color. Nose of black cherries snd some red clay. Nice floral note too. Dark cherries, rich fruit, notes ofnsoy sauce with ripe tannins and a long finish. Good acidity that carries the ripe fruit. Slight hint of alcohol but with time, it dissipates. Quite an enjoyable wine. Leans more on the fruit side of the sangiovese equation than the mushroom and …

Wow for the price, this is fabulously good. Descriptors as in my previous note. Once again, one of the best Tuscan bottles you can buy for value, outperforming many others at 2-3x the price. Neal Rosenthal can really find those hidden gems.

Nearly perfect young Sangiovese for this price. Very good fruit, acidity and balance. To keep it simple: A very good bottle of wine.

So good. Harmonious Sangiovese fruit, singing in symphony, hitting all the right notes. Improving with a few hours of air time. Really a benchmark, and in my opinion one of the best Tuscan bottles you can buy for value, outperforming many others at 2-3x the price. A real winner from Neal Rosenthal's portfolio.

Compared to the '08, definitely a step up regarding intensity, stuffing, balance and length. Beautiful sangiovese.
