Shared this with our Thursday Zoom tasting friend. As good a bottle of this wine as I've had. It's developed and changed over the last couple of years, too. We used to call the "the world's greatest adult lemonade" because the lemon and lemon zest flavors were so prominent. Those have settled a bit and I'm now getting a ton of slightly funky honey - fermented honey! I made that once for dressings, and this is exactly the same aroma. …

Check out my previous TNs on this wine. It says it all: I bought 4 bottles and they all went in under a year. I now wish I had more. Trying to find older GG is difficult and I'm still concerned on how they age. If this is a typical example they age fine. Bright, acidic and great fruit in a balance that you won't find in any other sort of wine. Love it.

Nice to have one of the original GG. Also a good indication of how these are going to age. On this outing - well. Lovely tartness (acidity) with no sweetness, but a fullness that brought the fruit (grapefruit and gooseberry) out beautifully. Long finish. Not as good as the pradikats with food, but worked well with fish and on it own. I think in general I'm going to like this style as an apertif during cooking.

My first GG. And one which was on the first year of the GG categorization. Strong stone on the nose with a slight mustiness. In the mouth more mustiness (which blew off after a while) and grapefruit. Not as sharp or delineated as I expected, but still a lovely drink. This has legs for many more years.

Svært mineralsk og rik på syre. Restsødme ikke registrerbar. Stram som en "grenadér-soldat", med en lang ettersmak. Kan med fordel ligge 5 år til.

A letdown after the bright and chiseled 2001 Steeger St. Jost Großes Gewächs, this one shows no acidity to give it definition so the result is just peachy fruit juice that doesn't even taste especially dry.
