Oh my god, I wish I had another bottle. The color was a gorgeous amber and wafting from the glass was a lemon zest with honeydew, pear, apples, vanilla, browned butter and toasty oak. The mouthful is unctuous and full with melon and citrus with a medium to long finish. Surprisingly the acid is only moderate but clearly enough to preserve this beautiful white. This has evolved so much from the last time I opened my last bottle in 2019. …

Still going. Nice citrus, peach, honeydew, and honeysuckle come through in a rich mouthfeel.

brought this to a Central Jersey CT off-line tasting at Ursino Restaurant. the wine was in better shape than the 2005 but still, i have to say, a bit tired. improved with air as funk blew off and it perked up quite a bit after awhile. still, not a crowd pleaser although i enjoyed. typical butter, honeysuckle, butter scotch and lemon citrus that i enjoy so much from newton. may have kept a bit too long. live and learn.

Unfortunately I waited way too long to drink this one. The fruit was gone and the remaining nose was reminiscent of a janitor's closet. A previous bottle of Newton Chard (earlier vintage) a few years back was quite memorable.

On the advice of another review, drank this cold...good decision! Still very good...pear, vanilla, lemon, with a little pith. Very long finish. Great to drink alone, or paired with creamy chicken dish.

These used to be very high on the list for me but they've been going down in more recent years. It's still above average to be sure but there are better wines for the price.

Rather disappointing considering the image and price tag of this wine. Of course it's fat, of course it's oily, but I really was surprised, that it's already dying. Drink now.

PNP. Color light gold. Despite secondary nuances this is very much alive and well. Half the bottle even survived a couple nights in the fridge. Polished and although CA chard is not my favorite this was very nice.

Cloudy, straw-gold colour, spaced out medium thickness tears. Clean, med+ intensity, aromas of honey, over-ripe pears, cat's pee, toasted almonds, and lemon curd. Dry, med body, med alcohol, no tannins, med acidity, complex but a sharpness that becomes stronger as the wine reaches room temperature, further tastes of molasses, lime, unripe bananas, and treacle. Special, but drink cold!

Still holding up well. Amazingly pleasant golden hue...a pleasure to admire in the glass. Smokey vanilla, butterscotch, and pear are the prominent flavors, with nice caramel on a very long finish.

Great yet again... held up well for a 2006. Golden yellow, bright and clear. Fresh pear and stone fruit on the nose. Same flavors on the initial taste... then some hints of butterscotch and carmel on the finish. A nice long finish with just a little acidiity left. [Really needs to be consumed at nothing cooler than 55F... or it stays closed, tart and and one-dimensional... let these warm up a bit to allow them to really sing.]

Holding up very well. Butterscotch, smoke, vanilla, and misc fruits present themselves on a surprisingly long finish.

The nose opened with apples, lime, rather ripe but fresh, then got much more exotic, when warming a bit. Full body, very smooth, quite concentrated, citrus, stones, butterscotch, melon. Very long. Slightly spicy finish. Powerful (if not over), but rather one dimensional.

Here comes a bomb! Why not, my girlfriend eats fresh tapas in Spain and drinks nice Tempranillo as we speak :) ...I guess The first sip was gorgeous: acid and then bee wax and then coffee and then vanilla and then citrus fruits and then ...and...and...wow! Ultracomplex, yet balanced and fat, yet elegant wine. Great ! This is a very good bottle (others weren't that excellent), god bless California!

Best bottle of my lot Complex, fat, nice, yet good acid balance and variety of fruit nuances, nuts, butter, apricot, cream, caramel, alcohol, very round. 93+

Found some bottles for 16 bucks per bottle (Euro that is), bought the whole stock. Opened the first bottle and there was an American Feeling: a baseball bat appeared in my glas, made of oak wood, covered in marple sirup and vanilla cream and hit me hard :) Just to keep everybody informed: I love Newton, beginning with 94 points in a professional tasting about ten years ago and having tasted multiple older and old unfiltered chardonnays from this vinyard, …

Got this '06 on a close out bin and was taking a chance that it wasn't cooked. Opened the bottle at a neighbors and it was fantastic. Still had plenty of freshness, citrus and acidity with a smooth edge.

Not as good as a I remember. Still nice with tropical fruit, citrus, and a distinguishable creaminess on the nose. A little too rich on the palate for me. Still a nice big chardonnay.

Not my style of Chard but well-made. Oak is very present but not overwhelming. A very ripe style with mostly tropical notes (pineapple, mango, guava) balanced by crisp lemon. Served with Shrimp and linguine in a chervil cream sauce. I added a little pimenton to play off the wine. The acidity in the wine is nicely in balance and the alcohol doesn't dominate. I have not enjoyed subsequent vintages of this wine.

Over time, I've come to disdain this style of wine. It is overly rich, overly alcoholic, and altogether inelegant. The oak aftertaste stays heavy in the mouth for minutes.
