Valle Isarco/Eisacktal is one of only a handful of places where Silvaner is taken very seriously, and this is a damn serious wine indeed. From 3 steeply sloped sites at 550-750m elevation just south of Bressanone totaling 2.5 hectares, vinified in acacia fuders and stainless steel. About 1000 cases per annum, which is maybe 1/3 of their total production, which also includes Riesling, Veltliner, and Gewurztraminer. 14% abv, bottled under screwcap, which preserved its freshness perfectly over 7 years. Pale …

I had the 2019 just recently and it was a notch up. The 2018 is still drinking well, but the acidity is starting to dissipate making it a less interesting wine. Still quaffable, well made wine though

Fairly aromatic with pomme fruit, orange/orange blossom, jasmine, a hint of something yellow and tropical, and...seashells? Palate is more citrus forward with lots of jasmine again and a bit of star anise, finishes with lime and mineral. M acid, M to M+ body. Never had a sylvaner before, but I like this pretty well, enough to look for another. I love the floral character but if I had my druthers I’d take higher acidity. Good pairing with pumpkin risotto (which …

Consistent TNs for me. This wine is just so easy to drink. A gooseberry hit with other citrus and a good sized mouth feel. Good acidity.

I still really like this wine. The biggest problem is it is so quaffable that it is hard not just chug. This doesn't mean its not interesting - just very easy to drink. Thoroughly enjoying this.

I last had this with the 2014 vintage. It is a bit more rustic and blunt since then. It could be that this is very young and will change with age. Good amount of acidity and grapefruit and a big hit of gooseberry (for you English people). A lot of good acidity. I have more bottles and will report as I think this will keep getting better.

Tasted at the winery together with Ms. Pliger. Kuenhof make some of the best white in Alto Adiges Eisacktal and their Sylvaner is one of the best in the region and one of the best showings of the grape in the world. Despite that Kuenhof refuses to make crus, and yes they have some great slopes. They price their wines modestly (circa 15 euros). 2017 was a difficult year and Pligers lost a big part of their crop to frost. …
