I have had this a couple of times lately. The most recent bottle today was the best yet. Rich in flavour but balanced in profile. Not heavy though exotic on the nose and in the mouthfeel. Lovely dark purple colour, nose exhibits spice and dark fruits. The palate is silky and leads to plums, spice, some pepper with tannins and oak melding well. A rather drinkable Barossa shiraz.

Just coming into a very long drinking window. Tannins, fruit and oak coming together. Very dense purple colour, nose of plums, oak and baking spices. Very long palate of sour(ish) plums, jubes, Turkish delight. One of the best reasons to drink Barossa shiraz.

Very fine australian shiraz. Powerfull nose with currant, mint, eucalyptus. Palate is smooth and flavourfull with fresh acidity. Much finer then I would have expected. Can hold 5-10 more years.

(Schweinshaxe w Uncle Richard and Auntie Arouny) Rich, plummy nose with eloquent blueberries, christmas spices, cracked black pepper and funky barnyard. Concentrated, yet classy dark berries, with savory spices, juniper and licorice root. Toasty notes, rounded with fine chew tannins, with a light cocoa dusting. Leather, black-forest torte, ending with an impressively long eucalypt finish. Lovely pairing with our pork knuckles, gently cutting through. Yums!

Bombastic fruit bomb nose with tons of stewed dark fruits and vanilla from the oak. The palate is much more balanced than I was expecting. Oak and tannins in balance with pure fruit and some lovely secondary characteristics of leather, chocolate, and pepper. Drink or hold.

still relatively young..alcohol quite prevalent on the front. Not as well integrated as I would have hoped, but after an hour of breathing opened up nicely. excellent fruit but this wine surprisingly would benefit from a bit more time. reflective of the 01 vintage

(Lees@Kluang) Dark dusty berries, again with very velvety fine tannins, held up with forward acidity. Great concentration and focus. Savory, with a beautiful, clean coconut cream (santan) note on the finish. Full and complete. Went well with our Kluang Gu-Bah-Hoon (the 2008 Pearl Riesling paired better) but excellent with dark chocolate, and fantastic company!

(BBQ@Geoff's) Dark ruby in glass, with opulent nose of dark fruit, fresh prunes, smoke and light funk. Silky soft, well matured, sweet on the taste, with yet more light smoke, dustyness, showing great fruit concentration - cassis & blueberries. Opulent, generous, concentrated, yet transparent, showing tall, elegant dark florals. Textural, billowy, with musky, murky minerality, very fine leather, forest floor mushrooms and cracked black pepper. Pure and well expressed. Ends beautifully with soft spices and eucalypts. Aged beautifully - perfect …

I took this wine as a celebratory drink for fathers. I was expecting a big bloussy Barossa Shiraz but this was all together different. At 11 years it is still fresh as a daisy, beautifully balanced. It has the rewards u want from Barossa with great depth of fruit, but also some secondary character showing through. Any way you cut it, this was a superb wine, and probably the best I have had this year.

Still fairly youthful but integrated with sweet black fruit, oak and a lengthy finish. This is at a good place right now.
