Crisp, floral, with a hint of meyer lemon. Trefethen's Dry Riesling was my modern introduction to Rieslings, which I remember as overly sweet with not much else about them. We had turned up at Trefethen in Napa Summer of 2014 with no reservation. While they could not book us in, they did treat us to an extra large tasting of this excellent Riesling (likely 2012 or 2013 vintage). Paired well with my chicken chimichurri.

Brought this on a trip with me to Miami for the wine spectator grand tour event… I had some reps come to my room before the event and we were enjoying this as well as some charcuterie before we had to go and everybody was thoroughly impressed with this Riesling including myself who tried it at the winery upon release and felt it was just OK. I don’t know what it is about this 2019 but it has come into …

Whistle clean flinty lemony thing. I can sniff out faint aromas of match and white flowers. But they need a good sniff. Paper crisp and sour, relatively uneventful.

Touch tropical underneath a lot of lime and lime zest. Pineapple, mineral, high acid, full dry, high extract, great.

Nice balance of lemon and pineapple with grassy undertones. Solid expression of a dry California Riesling.

Likeable but lacks a lot of depth and character. Don't know how in the world this got a 94 rating from wine mags. I love dry Riesling, but there are better choices for less than the $20 this cost. Would be a summer quaffer, fruit is lighter than we care for.

This one simple and straightforward, citrus, green apple, lemon, and a slight hint of petrol as it warmed up.

Nice find at Costco for $16! The winery introduced this in 1974 and justly remains a staple since. Pale translucent gold color. Burst of citrus & mineral on the nose. Sips offer an array of lemon lime, green apple & mineral. Classically dry ( trocken) but not mouth puckering. Refreshing, balanced & pure. A worthy treatment of the noble grape and a versatile white I'll have on our table again. 12% alc. Enjoy bloated oaky whites? This may not be …

Inoffensive, but nothing special. Far better rieslings from both old and new world are available for similar prices, or even for less. The palate is subdued and the finish is short. Medium-low acid. Some notes of crisp apple and citrus, but not much.

Very food-friendly. Crisp without being austere. I would drink this again especially with spicy foods such as Chinese, Thai etc. food.

Very light and simple. Mild nose, mild flavors. Dry. High acid; good with food. Not a particularly interesting Riesling, but pleasant.

gold/ orange colour Marmalade on the nose, butterscotch Smoky on the palate, creamy texture, fruit initially a bit reticent but then some orangey notes, long finish Showing well but fully mature

Inexpensive not too sweet; dry pear, lemon/lime oil dominate and slight butterscotch on the back of the mouth. Keeping on hand for those days above 80 degrees and a beer or G&T just is not in the cards. Good acid.

Nice. But I would have liked a little more acidity to cut back the sweetness.

Popped and poured to accompany steamed steelhead, Chinese mustard stems with shiitakes and rice. Somewhat dull, metallic nose, crisp lime and green apple fruit, medium dry, pleasantly chalky tail end. A fine specimen.

Full straw gold colour. Apple, unripe pear, slightly grassy, sour honeysuckle melon. Fresh, but slightly metallic mouthfeel. Dry finish. Ev too high on alcohol?

News to me that Riesling is grown in napa. A decent effort, but not outstanding. I like the dry lemon lime flavors, but it is a little flat on acidity.

Green apple and white peach abound. Light and bright, balanced acidity. Some kiwi and lime build in as tasting progresses.

100% Riesling grown sustainably and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Fresh and fragrant with jasmine, lichee, green apple and mineral aromas. Dry, with bright, mouthwatering acidity and a refreshing minerality that help make this wine standout. At only 12.5% abv and dry this is closer in style to an Alsatian riesling but for a CA riesling its one of the best I've had. $22 US retail at the winery.
