Slightly sweet and went well with the food. From an objective perspective, this is short and not very interesting. But, as it has a tiny bit of age, it has come around to early pre-maturity. Never was great, but is better now than two years ago.

2013 Leyda Syrah Lot 8 was rich, powerful and flashy. The developing Chilean Syrah was almost opaque deep ruby in colour with traces of fine sediments. Freshly uncorked, the nose was pure blackcurrant juice. With an hour in bottle, flashy notes of blackberry, black pepper, fennel herbs, tobacco smoke, leather and bacon fat emerged. 2013 Leyda Syrah Lot 8 was intense, powerful, savoury and structured. The Chilean Syrah was almost opaque and deep purple in colour with noticeable amount of tiny sediment. The nose was packed with savoury notes of game, beef stock and bacon fat, with graphite and vanilla in the background. There was not much fruit in the wine.
