Complex nose. Lean bodied with stout tannin. This drinks more like a classic old world wine. Dark fruited. I like the classic stylings here. The acidity and tannin levels indicate a pretty long window for this one.

so, i've been on a bit of an obsessive kick regarding the San Lorenzo Vineyard, kept by the Segesio family (not the Seghesio brand, but the original family). This is the third of 3 zin blends that come out of that vineyard... The Seghesio, the Journeyman, and...this bottle by Ridge. PnP was closed. Decanted for an hour. Medium to medium-dark ruby. A very oaky nose with some floral elements behind it. Medium bodied, medium acidity, dry, a very structured wine. Bramble and wood are the only flavors on the palate. Strong grippy tannins. Long tannic finish of licorice and mineral. Everything about this wine is screaming it needs more time to open up. Whiffs of American oak immediately followed by stony blackberry. Shows low extraction by look. Rich feeling. A little bit grippy. Overall the structure is pretty damn good. They've really showed some restraint here even if the fruit saw plenty of ripeness. In that you notice the alcohol around the edge of the nose and palate.
