Castoro Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles

Still showing strong. Plenty of fruit, plenty of backbone. A few signs of mid-life complexity. These Castoros with a little age always impress and surprise me.

Subtle on the nose with deep currant and plum flavors then extremely smooth on the palate where the wood flavors blend to make a wonderful mix. Tannins come alive in the mouth. Very delightful, but is at its peak now I think.

Toasty butterscotch with chocolate and coffee on a sweet-seeming middleweight body. Nice in an easy-going relaxed sort of way.

Not impressed - may need to wait a few years for the tannins to subside

More cranberry and tart cherry on the nose.

first bottle popped after being in the hospital for a month. didn't want something too complicated or strong, just something fruity to go with a sausage and rice dish. this was nice. purple colored with medium viscosity. 13.5% alcohol. nose of jam, rasberries and vanilla. medium bodied with solid tannic structure, which was impressive. rasberry jam flavors, but not too candied, are complimented with toast, chocolate and coffee flavors. medium finish. nice qpr.

A bit of a shocker! This had an excellent nose similar to a nice bordeaux, tight, mineral and earthy. The body was very clean, not heavy handed with well balanced fruit, soft, intergrated tannins and a long and tight finish. After an hour it became more fruit forward but not jammy, just more pronounced. A bargin for 12 bucks, especially in the Cab world.
