Camille Giroud Beaune 1er Cru Les Cras

Drunk straight after the 2012 and the contrast was fascinating. This too was smoky and with a briary wildness, but with better definition than the 2011. It comes together beautifully. Exciting wine.

Fresh, some smoky fragrance, perfumed - showing really well tonight

Tasted more times before and it seems that it is closing down a bit now. The earlier smooth and appealing fruit is now more rugged and rustic. I will wait 4-5 years drinking the next bottles.

Camille Giroud has hit the right spot more and more in recent years and this round and full wine is no exception. Still it has got fressness and acidity to make it a sheer delight. Exquisite to drink now and why wait?

Had it blind and guessed Burgundy from a much higher pedigree than a negoatiant Beaune. One of the best Beaunes I've had in many years. Lively fresh nose with not too much wood, and a smokey, red berry, bright nose with underlying sweetness a la 2007. Surprisingly similar to the Fourrier Solon 11 which it followed - smoky, acidic, pretty strawberry fruit, a menthol streak, very lively

Silky, black fruited and fine, but holding back today

Fresh, soft and dense, plum fruit, rich and some sweetness, already multilayered. Suspect this will get even deeper. Lovely
