Split over 2 days. Delicious both. Nice softness with a lengthy tail on day 2.

I knew better, but I opened this anyway. Through an Ullo and into a decanter. First impressions — coffee bitters, hot, tannic, earthy beast of a wine. This clearly needs air. Try again with 30 min air. After 60 min of air, this was much better, but nowhere near up to par. The earthiness remained on the nose and deep herbal notes appeared, covering up everything else, though the coffee receded. The palate began to show some ghosts of fruit, …

We thoroughly enjoyed this wine. At first, I felt like it would be a pop and pour, because it was showing very well in the glass, but after about five minutes, we realized a soft decant Would really help open the wine on the back pallet. I have recently bought a case of the 2017 tench Cabernet, and I’m looking forward to drinking the cuvée alongside the Cabernet varietal.

I love where this wine is right now. It will continue to age well, but into a great place now.

Unmatched in deliciousness. a chimera of a serious napa cab with chambord! Needs time to integrate, but it is exuberantly delightful already.

Decanted 45 minutes. Teeth coating, black fruit. Love how the Cab Franc with its brambly herbiness pushes through on these Tench Bevan blends. Russell Bevan sure as $hit knows what he’s doing.

Excellent wine. Blend is smooth to the end with lots of fruit on the front. I need to buy more.

30 minute decant, followed 2 glasses over 2 hours and one glass the next day. The nose has a ton of fruit. The palate is LOADED with green green tannins that almost feel like alcohol burn. Maybe there is some alcohol there. Little changed the next day, which is concerning. Hold 3+ years and pray.

Not sure what happened with this bottle. Horrible. Corked? Surprised since it was stored exactly as another I had previously back in July.

Boy, this one has improved in the last six months (and with a 3 hour decant). Blackberry, blueberry, charcoal, licorice, faint bittersweet cocoa.

Ripe grape juice with touch of green and short finish at end. Not very pleasant strong tannins maybe needs more time?

Good nose, prob the Cab Franc. Maybe a touch overripe, solid but not great. Drank side by side blind with the Melka CJ 2018, the Melka was clearly the superior wine.

Pop and pour but needed 30 minutes of air to blossom, then kept improving over three hours. This is one of the most savory Bevans I've had, much to my liking. This is 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon with the rest Cab Franc and a splash of Petit Verdot. This is showing beautifully with savory black fruit and herbs, cranberry, and chewy tannins on the palate and a long finish of blackcurrant, licorice, and cognac. One of the best 2017s I've tasted.

First of 6 bottles purchased direct from Bevan on a sale. Opened 3 hours prior to drinking, bottle threw off a little bit of sediment but not much. Already ready to drink after some air. Pleasant ruby cherry red, you can get a hint of that Cab Franc showing through. Glad I have more of this.
