Il doit me rester La Landonne, ma préférée.

Drank in Ch Mai in a double blind mosh pit. This seemed the lightest of the 9. Elegant yet restrained. Didn't show as well as the others. Pretty for sure. Violets and white flower. I thought it was burgundy. Delicate. Got lost in the sea of over done Italian macho wines which I didn't care yet managed to crush my pallette. I'd sit on these for a few more years. After 30 minutes in the glass bacon came out. Obviously …

The birthday round 2 (HT) : Powerful yet velvety across the bouquet and palate. Bouquet showing forest floor, earth, dark plums, tar, sandalwood and ginger. Palate velvety and plummy, with grippy tannins in the backdrop, thought this was perhaps a Barolo from a traditional producer but turns out was grossly wrong.

This bottle was decanted off the sediment about six hours ago. Wow, what a complex nose! I don’t drink a lot of northern Rhone, but this has a very distinctive nose. This literally covers every nook and cranny of your palate. Impressive!

Decanted for a good hour and this needs it for sure. We are big believers that these wines need 25yrs or more for them to reach their proper place . And this almost adult of a wine is ever so youthful still . Still rich and with puppy fat and full of energy. Beautiful still but at this stage we only saw part of the story. Once this matures further and develops a more earthier side it will be a …

This ‘06 ‘La Turque’ from E. Guigal was poured at the Tribeca Grill with Jon & the Alaska Crew. This was the start of our lineup and frankly the most underwhelming of the bunch. First glass seemed entirely out of balance with acid in one place and not in another. With 2 hours of air, this wine arguably seemed past its peak with a bit of soy sauce and port-like finish. Tasting notes of smoked game meat, white pepper, tart …

Had this again, decanted for 1h. Nose of dark fruit, smoke, bacon, earthy element, still a bit brooding. Lots of acidity, medium+ bodied, make for the long distance. Can be approached now but I really recommend to wait for another 3-4 years before opening this. 95-96

started drinking nearly 2 hours after opening without decanting. The nose showed a little smoke and grilled meats, a hint of savory notes, and ripe fruits like cassis. Some half hour later the wine was showing a nice level of ripeness, but also started to reveal some stewed fruits.

Such a sense of place. Swear I could taste the terroir as described. Balanced and super sophisticated tasting experience. Again ageless. Herbs, fruit, spices, tar. Elegant but powerful. Attractive fruit but savoury/dryness. Wonderfully complete wine - a joy. Made me wonder what a great year tastes like.

We had left our wine glasses standing all evening, and after 4-5 hours, the nose of La Turque was the most present, the most prominent, having lost almost none of its power. Even the Homage 2012 from J Perrin had to bow down to the LT. The nose had beautiful alcohols, but especially peppers, spicy, very herbal as if full of spices. In the mouth, it had a beautiful acidity, was very long, but I missed the balance of frivolity …

This wine should be in its prime drinking according to Northern Rhone critic gurus. Medium body. Profile dominated by herbal and blood orange tones. Rather unimpressive showing - for my personal taste a disappointment (especially in view of the price tag).

Slow oxed for roughly four hours. This is a medium red wine with serious tongue-staining concentration and modest sediment cake on the bottle. On the nose, I get blueberry, leather, pepper, and gamey notes. In the mouth, the wine is lively, smooth, and lush, with an unexpected level of acidity coupled with serious depth of flavor. The finish is long and savory, leaving some wild berry elements. Overall, this was a very pleasurable wine, with surprising freshness and refinement. That …

Decanted 60 minutes. Fragrant nose, not overly intense but showing light brambles, violets and some hoisin. Palate is richer with real depth - oodles of hoisin notes, ripe brambles and blackberries, lots of sage. Good tannins with a fine grip and freshness giving delightful balance. Long persistence and a super rich mouthfeel. Subtle and very elegant. Drinking now-2032.

I bought 1 bottle each of the three La Las and this is the first one consumed. With BBQ Rib Eye steak. The wine and the steak were a perfect match. Deep, dark colour; attractive nose; wonderful long finish. Drinking well, but no doubt this has at least another 5-10 years of drinking pleasure ahead.

While no doubt a young La La, 2007 La Turque is fabulous tonight, wafting layers of violets, campfire smoke, black olive, smoked meats and deep dark fruit. It’s multidimensional palate is seriously concentrated, yet simultaneously shows elegance and lift, all leading to its long, silky finish. In a great spot but also with many years ahead.

Wonderfully balanced, complex, and interesting. In a great spot for drinking now, while simultaneously an obvious candidate for equal (or better) enjoyment in 5, 10 or 20 years. Dyr eik. Utrolig flott i munn. En vibrerende syre gir en kriblende følelse gjennom hele kurven. Sexy fatbruk og lekker frukt i kombinasjon. Stunning vin.

Complex and rich, this already has some tertiary notes showing up and a seductive silky mouthfeel. Leaves the mouth watering after a lingering finish. Boysenberry on the attack and the nose is fun to revisit. I get new nuances each whiff. It's very enjoyable and paired wonderfully with duck breast seared and glazed with mirin, yuzu and ginger. Still youthful. Needed a 40 minute decant. Wet wool and mineral bouquet, some red wine poached pear, fresh marjoram/thyme, graphite, and black olive. Youthful tannins , but plenty of balance to work well w steak tartare and rare squab, Still 5-10 years away from developing to its best with secondary notes, now in between primacy and greatness.

Guigal La Turque 2012. Druvor: Syrah 93% & 7% Viognier.
