We did a vertical tasting of the Patterson BDX from 2012, 2013, & 2014 side by side blind with 14 of our friends. The 2013 was the clear favorite of our more “mature” wine loving friends. 46% Cab Sauv, 24% Cab Franc, 22% Merlot and 8% Malbec from Seven Hills, Ciel du Cheval and Stillwater Creek. Decanted. Rich dark cherry, cassis and plum scents robed with aromas of toast, vanilla and mocha that show additional scents of cedar and cigar box. The palate shows a rich blend of cassis, dark cherry, mocha and vanilla that is followed by firm cedar and herb notes that follows through the long finish with strong tannins.
