Exploring Niagara-on-the-lake: iCellars : Now, this is a varietal BC does much better. The nose is very botanical & earthy, like smelling used coffee grounds. The palate is very reductive – and where are the peppery notes? Very light overall with no real depth, lacking tannin with firm acids. It may be a correct expression, but this profile will not please many.

Clear medium ruby; clean medium nose of jammy plums, jammy red cherries and savoury herbs; dry; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; medium plus alcohol; medium body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is slightly tarter with addition of fennel and green pepper; medium plus finish; drink now; not as good/interesting as our last bottle - more generic

Clear medium violet; clean medium plus nose of blueberry jam, vanilla, toast, cassis jam and savoury herbs; dry; high acidity; medium tannins; medium plus alcohol; medium body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of cocoa; medium plus finish; palate seems a touch watery given the promise of the nose; not at all what an Ontario Syrah should smell like; very cool wine
