Great after seven years. Still a good amount of acid and tannins in this one. Had some of the similar tones of a Bordeaux but not much on the vegetal side. Pretty fruit.

Sour cherry, spice, soil, a little milk chocolate. Dusty cherry palate, not much oak present, moderate tannins, acid middling. Medlock Ames always delivers.

Aromas of raspberry, black berry, finishing with summer rain. On the palate good acidity and tannins, berries, espresso, rich. Got another bottle in the cellar, will definitely look forward to it in the future.

Nicely balanced fruit and acidity. Perfect with grilled hamburger on a warm summer evening.

We are great supporters of Medlock Ames but this bottle was well past its prime and virtually undrinkable. The bottled wasn't 'corked' but the wine was just flat with no decernable fruit flavors.

Interesting peppery, spicy nose. Dense fruit with good balancing acidity. Not all put together but enjoyable.

Cherry on the nose, cherry, vanilla and a hint of pencil shavings on the palette. Nice wine, medium tannins, smooth finish, a good choice as a better than average "table wine".

Winter in Wineland; 1/14/2017-1/20/2017 (Sonoma & Napa) : This wine just screams for BBQ or pizza night. It's got some great spice, cherry, easy, very drinkable. Nothing really special about it, but the kindof bottle that you'd pop open without thinking for a more laidback night.

Fruity but light. Black tea. 71% Cabernet, 25% Merlot, plus Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Malbec

Big, juicy, extracted. Not much structure. A bit of black fruit, but mostly big and jammy. Just way too over the top for me. Oh and hot to boot.

huge, over the top tannins when first opened. Decanted and started drinking in about an hour, much better. Overall decent red blend, medium finish, nice mouth feel.

Medium to full body. Ripe red berry that opens up with air. Smooth mouthfeel and easy to drink.

Floral, tannic, and a little spicy on the finish. Needs some aeration. Better on its own than as an accompaniment to a beefy or spicy meal.

Clear, deep garnet. Cassis, tobacco, bramble. Low acids, medium tannins. Chocolate, vanilla. Medium slightly tannic finish. Industry event by the glass.

This wine doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love from previous reviewers but our bottle was quite lovely. In fact I couldn't keep my nose out of the glass. Some very nice floral aspects to this wine with notes of strawberry and cinnamon on the palette. Just very elegant and enjoyable overall. We're glad this was one of the 12 bottles we brought back to NJ from Sonoma in August (many others didn't make the cut).

I would have scored this lower on the first night. A night decanted in the fridge made it very nice the next night.

Looks like a cab/merlot in the glass with some of the same on the nose and palate. Even with aeration and lots of swirling, it still was tasting a little hot and rustic ... not coming together. Just not a balanced wine.

A red blend of 79 % cabernet sauvignon and 21 % merlot (I was informed), oak-aged, dense, tannic, yet with good fruit evident, balanced. Yes aging.
