Power and refinement altogether, almost "Vosne Romanée" in style, while showing typical Côte blonde caracteristics. Oustanding. Puissance en finesse, proche de Vosne Romanée dans son expression, avec les marqueurs de la Côte blonde. Grand !

Vin correct mais très en deça du standard attendu pour cette bouteille.

In a great place. So smooth with sweet fruit. Sour cherries.

Perfectly aged and paired with beef short ribs for Xmas. 2 hour decant. Wish I had more!

Real stunner, in a great spot, racy Cote-Rotie with lucious dark fruits and great notes of evolution. Leather, light roast coffee, cigar box, cured beef and violet. This is full on the palate but fresh with decent acidity. Really vibrant and paired really well with pepper bison filet.

VDLT Pre-Arrival Tasting (Chief's apartment) : An outstanding young Côte Rôtie. Bottled early for the VDLT tasting, it will stay in barrel 24-months - 6 more than most vintages. Dizzyingly complex nose of dark fruit and spices. The layers to this wine are remarkable and spread out in the mouth. The finish is probably a couple of minutes and it too evolves. Immensely pleasurable and provocative.

Visit to Domaine Christophe Pichon (Domaine Christophe Pichon, Chavanay) : from barrel - 2300 bottles and none exported. More of everything and truly elegant. Long, rich & velvety. Needs time but this is grand vin. Pichon owns 0.5 of 12 hectares in Côte Blond.
