Clear gold and lite in the glass. Nose of singed flowers, citrus, stone fruit and spice. Secondary apple sauce. Medium body and pithy with citrus, melon and spice on the palate. Mouthwatering with angularity. Medium finish.

Tastes of mineral & vanilla with a long tart finish. Not my favorite Chardonnay, but it grows on you.

A very enjoyable chardonnay with light vanilla notes over tropical/citrus notes. Only thing that lowers the point total is obvious alcohol notes in the nose and finish.

Pit fruit and apples on the nose and palate with a hint of oak. Has a slightly but refreshing bitterness. Has a nice long finish.

Santa Ynez Valley Tasting Trip - Day 2 (Babcock, Foxen, Koehler, Brander) (Santa Ynez Valley, CA) : $35. Again, a very tight nose - didn't really get anything at all. On the palate, focused with nice non-oaky Chard flavors, minerality, a little creamy, good depth of flavor and nicely balanced.

Nice and well balanced but a little pricey for what it is.

Chardonnay Symposium- Santa Maria Valley. Creme fraiche, lime and oaky spice notes. On the palate it shows balanced citrus and leesy spice. Full weight and finish.

Side-by-side with a Gary Farrell. Foxen shone, although the Farrell was excellent, due to its very food-friendly profile and better overall balance. Worthy of ageing and Burgundian in character, this bottle showed aromas of citrus-laced tropical fruit and sea air, clean and clear, with a very light straw color. Palate opens with mango and papaya notes, a tinge of lime, and layers of sea salt and limestone notes, bracing acidity and a long finish. Excellent.

Wife and I both enjoyed at Ruth's Chris Foxen wine dinner. Well-balanced with both oak and mineral present.
