Clos Floridene, Blanc, Graves

Opened 6 hours in advance. The primary fruit starts to fade away now, there is still gooseberry and a green note but less intense now and the mature notes are not yet there. Seems to be in a difficult phase, but there is enough structure that keeps me hoping for a nice mature phase in a couple of years.

2015 vintage

This was a good version of the wine. Mid gold, not too advanced. Nose has fruit and nuts in that order. No reduction or sherry notes. In the mouth, sweet green fruit, lemon and a touch of lanolin. But clean with fresh acidity and an evolving finish. I’ve had others from the same case which have been hollow, over-acidic or too far advanced. But this one is balanced and feels in the right space between primary and tertiary profile.

Very Sauvignon Blanc driven. Fresh, with some discrete oaky elements. Very straight forward. Green, white flowers, gooseberries and lime. Viscous fruit. Good lenght.

Feminine style yet with intensity. Green and yellow apples and pears with elder flowers on the nose and palate. Fresh acid which adds structure. Not very complex but well made.

Subtle... very, very subtle. It seemed weak on the nose and bland on the palate (moderately lemony) but the finish held a nice balance of acidity and a light mineral note. I wouldn't pair this with any dish of significant flavors because it would easily overpower this delicate white wine. Dover sole & cream sauce is probably preferred.

Notes from the significant other that drank it. Nose of crisp apples and bright pear. Very smooth, medium body, a little dry, slight nutty/buttery flavor but not like a California chardonnay, long finish. Overall, well balanced, and easy to drink. It smelled sweeter than it tasted. French friends really enjoyed it too.

Delightful wine tastes during a hot July 4th evening in TX. Pnp into a glass to a lemony gold colore. Effusive nose of tripocal fruits and flowers. Notes of pineapple, pear, mango, white flowers. 2 years after the prior. Decanted for 40 minutes, poured back into the bottle 2 hours before dinner, but still needed some time in the glass to open.
