Broke this out yesterday and finished it today. Very dark, brooding and viscous. This is super elegant, lush and feminine, with loads of dark fruit and anise. Long, rich finish. This is a very distinctive wine, with a creamy vanillin oak component that some may find off-putting, though for me it is tolerable. We canted for a good hour but really the wine is ever so youthful still and albeit welcoming it is only showing a small part of its capacity. Bright, herby, spice and dark fruited nose , intense and still very much on the fruit. Would have loved some earthy complexity here but we don’t see this coming in the next 5 years and once that kicks in then this will show the full potential. 93 for now but for sure …

Dark, chewy, and full bodied. Dark cherries and berries. Dark chocolate, black licorice and a bit of prune. Smooth with great structure and not too tannic. Don’t need food to pair with it, it’s great all on its own. That being said would pair great with French cheeses, steak. Drinking fantastic right now (might be peaking)!!

This is an absolutely massive wine. Was worried about opening now, and I was right. I did double decant it over 6 hours before consumption with Brazilian churrasco. You simply must have something big like this to enjoy this wine right now, in my opinion. It showed better throughout the evening, but was almost undrinkable on open. I would sit on it, but if you drink now, decant 6-8 hrs, I think.

I opened this with friends for an end of term celebration for my MBA program and was quickly devoured.. it was tough to judge since it was opened and consumed in like 15 minutes. Q4 - 2016 Tasting - Anything Goes Theme (New York, NY) : #11 of 22 wines tasted double blind. Color is dark purple. On the nose blackberry and raspberry. Tastes more mature and resolved than the color would indicate. Seems like a nicely put together well balanced napa cab to me, but not a standout in today's field. Third quartile for me and the group with 2 pennies voted.
