Really incredible intensity and freshness to this bottle with laser-like acidity and delicious yellow and green-tinged fruit. The texture is streamlined and electric and the wine builds to a fabulously complex finish with wonderful notes of mint and minerals. Montille’s wine need time and ageing. 2020 is just too youthful. Only primary fruit character. Will improve with ageing. Drank from magnum.

Flinty, sharp and mineral, with loads of acid and tons of energy and tension. Really great showing, probably the best bottle of white I've ever had from Montille.

2019 vintage

Drank over a dinner at a restaurant. It should have been decanted. It is already good (lemon, butter) but the finale was just muted. It opened up a little bit toward the end, revealing a good volume. Hold for 2+ years for the next one. Diam cork.

2014 vintage

Slightly disappointing maybe I was expecting too much. On revisiting the next day it did have a flinty taste, bone dry and above all a very long taste. I underestimated it originally

At a great time in its life and albeit has a lot more to evolve to we liked it at this semi fresh state , still with the brightness of youth but also with evolution and has for sure assimilated its puppy fat. Very pretty 93

This was fabulous. Perfectly ripe orchard fruits. Oozes minerality. Great shape and fruit intensity. Builds through the palate and has such great power and authority. The finish is complex and super salty.

Diam 30 cork. A youthful and complex nose. Fresh citrus fruit. Some minerals. With time, a hint of petrol. A lush palate and a long and lingering finish. Not a huge amount of new oak, but enough to give this some structure. I liked this. Ready to drink now, but should drink for another 5-10 years at least.

Amane. My bottle (resulting in an amusing photo next to the 73(!) Leroy Perrieres), but a slightly underwhelming showing. Decanted for about 2.5 hours, as Montille's whites can be reduced and accounting for the 2014 acidity, but this may have muted it. There's plenty of acidity and cut, but it never quite fully came together - it wasn't quite precise enough for a really direct wine and didn't have the breadth or power of a Meursault 1er. 2014 White Horizontal with Jasper Morris MW (Zoom!) : Relatively pale colour. Quite a reductive nose, pretty tight on the palate too. Starts to show a bit more with some air, but it never fully opens. Aristocratic and reserved, with coiled power. Gorgeous lemon/lime finish. JM thinks it needs another year or two to knit together; I wouldn't be surprised if it takes even longer based on my sample - found it relatively hard going.

Excellent promise here. Quite young still but not punishing like many ‘14s. Classy juice with good mineralogy and verve. Perhaps a lower key expression of Perrieres than more famous producers but that’s to its credit. For best results would give it a few more years still.

Double blind. Clearlt high quality white burg. Nose is cool, minty, lemon and minerals. Great fruit. Cotton candy. Honeysuckle and florals. Palate is crisp and clean with great lemon and fruit and minerals and spices. A bit of oak but really integrated. Very salty on Finish. This is exceptional white burg. Too tight at this stage but the aromas are delicate and complex. Licorice powder, minerals and integrates oak. Concentrated citrusy palate, salty minerals and fennel.

Nose is fresh, clean, and light. Very mineral and limestone. Some weightier orchard fruit coming through. Mildly tropical, somewhat leesy. Very pleasant, although the Corton-Charlemagne came next and shut this right down.

tasted at the Domaine with Etienne. white flowers on the nose. saline characteristics with a low oak overlay makes for a complex and approachable wine that should improve. medium+ length. ***+

2014 vintage

Quatuor inédit en Côte de Beaune - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Tonnellerie Damy - Meursault) : Tasting, brief note. Large apple aromas and flavors with textures in harmony. Very good balance already today. Moderate depth and length, this will drink very nicely young, with the stuffing to cellar as well.

Domaine de Montille Cellar Visit and Tasting (Meursault Burgundy France) : Barrel tasting at domaine. From neutral 500L barrel, the final blend will ultimately be ~20% new oak. Orchard fruit start-to-finish with good density. I like the minerality and textures throughout, even if slightly firm today. Very good potential.

Domaine de Montille Cellar Visit and Tasting (Meursault Burgundy France) : Tasted at domaine. Bottled in April. Citrus start to finish. Somewhat tight in middle so not fully forthcoming today, but I like the potential here with lots of energy on the finish. Approx 18% new oak.
