From 75cl, good (but, surprisingly, not flawless) cork, grey staining back 3mm, P+P, followed over the subsequent hour. Aromatically restrained, obviously a Riesling Auslese, a bit of Saar spice. Mouthwatering entry: Light-bodied, quick-footed, hints of superb quince jelly. Then a dark, moody, mineral undertow grabs your full attention, leads you straight down the rabbit-hole. Very young, fresh with peach. Very balanced, drinking it next to Schaefer 2012. Schaefer 2012 is much more aged and brown. Müller is much more balanced, and completely out of the park.

Had it next to Willi Schaefer GH auslese 2012. The Schaefer was way more developed, dark and more exotic. The Müller was light and cleaner, it seemed much younger and fresher. Notes of honey, kiwi, peach and a bit of chemicals. It has such a rich texture and stays in the mouth for 70 seconds. I have one bottle myself and will gladly save it for 10+ years. Small pour at Rieslingfeier -- agreed with previous notes, one of the best Kabinetts I've ever had. It has a sense of fullness and volume about it which is rarely seen at the Kabinett level, complete with citrus and herbaceousness, great balance, and no tertiary characteristics yet to note at this age. Popped and poured. This is the best kabinett I have ever tasted. Lime, petrol and tropical fruit on the nose. The wine is very precise and fresh with crisp acidity but also depth and breath is impressive. It is so youthful at year 15 it’s amazing. Terrific.

This 375 is definitely ready to enjoy at the Müller fullest. The Scharzhofberger lighter-than-air elegance shone through, with green leaf notes , lemon acid, some deep minerality and a nice soft palate. Not as chiseled as some vintages and the acid backbone was slightly less persistent .Drink now.

Amazingly complex herbal nose, so satisfying and pure. Sweet on the palate, a bit more viscous than ideal but delicious and rich.

Oakville AVA Tasting in London : This was served without dessert but would have been even better had we opted for it. Concentrated sweet mandarin orange and some lychee. Laser-like finish. I liked how this was powerful but balanced at the same time like a ballerina on steroids. 93+ seems young.

Very pronounced nose of peach, stone fruit, lemon, petrol, and ginger. Medium acidity with sweet fruit, lemon, stone fruit, and minerals. Nice finish. The residual sugar is a bit higher than I expected and the acidity a bit lower... But still a lovely, complex wine.

This half bottle was more restrained than the last, yielding little on the nose and only hints of that wonderful Scharzhofberger floral delicacy. Some white tea, a sense of open fields and fresh flowers, but none distinct enough to declare this fully ready. A tiny bit of residual sugar snuck in. Given the now cult status and astronomical pricing for his wines, it is worth holding this for a few more years. And even then, the QPR may prove elusive …

This wine is finally coming to a perfect balance of Muller citrusy subtle acid and the wonderful Schartzhofberger fruit, which is more of flowers than tropical fruit in other vineyards. Crisp, soft, a nose of lemon, elder flowers and a frosty mist, mild yellow golden color, and palate of the aforementioned fruit/acid throughout. From a 375.

Classy Kabinett, light aroma of petroleum. Med+ intensity of flavours (tropical fruits, ripe yellow apple), med+ acidity and body. 8.5% alc. These are just so good, I'd drink this for breakfast.

A pale greenish glow. Sensations of wet slate with a hint of petrol. Fairly youthful aromas of lime zest, green apple, and white peach. Light-bodied (only 8,5% abv) yet notably viscous, with zesty acidity, perfectly integrated sweetness and a salty finish. An excellent '09 with at least a decade of future, maybe more. So enjoyable and refreshing at this stage. AP nr 06 10.

Short note - stonefruit, ripe peach and tropical fruit, nectar, almost honey, kamfer and hint of mint/eucalyptus on the nose. High acidity, very very concentrated and well balanced. Deep complexity and extremely long finish. This will keep forever. Oustanding quality, 95-96p

At the risk of venturing into the iconoclast, and as a decades- old admirer of Muller's kabinetten, I must say that this 375, is at best promising. I contrast that with the brilliant kabinetten in recent years produced by Willi Schaefer, Lauer, Donnhoff,Vollenweider Wolfer, and others -- or old Prum-- and recognize that while Muller stands alone with that lightness and elegant airy citrus and tree fruit flavors, they are by no means in my view worth 3- 4 times …

Egon Muller Riesling tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street) : This is still very closed but even over 10 minutes with lots of glass warming and swirling, baked apples and tropical fruits emerged.
