Nice to be back to this opulent yet elegant blend of 60% Malbec, 40% CS after nearly 5 years. Vines were planted at 1935 at 900 meters of altitude, aged in new FR oak barrels for 18 months. Deep ruby garnet colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of plums, cherries, licorice, spices, herbs, earth, tar. Full body, rich and powerful, leaner after 4 hours of aeration, ripe earthy black fruits, opulent structure with elegant edges, medium acidity, medium extra fine silky tannins.

No notes taken, from memory. Maybe not a bad wine per se but I really couldn't drink this. Absolutely absurd oak treatment here, even with 13 years not much more to find here. Oak and very sweet, heavy, hot fruit. Couldn't drink a glass, thus can't rate it.

Double decanted three hours before service. 60% Malbec, 40% Cab Sauv. Opaque purple. Tannic but very smooth and easy to drink. Raspberries, but meaty as well. In an excellent drinking window right now with no signs of decay. Pair it up with some beef and it'll be a great dinner.

3rd Friday Group Tasting (R&R's) : Double blind. Notes of dark fruit, tobacco, chocolate and green herbs. Balanced, with an abundance of dark fruit and herb on the palate. Excellent. 91-92 pts.

60/40 blend of 85 year old-vine ungrafted Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon which matured in new French oak barrels for two years. Deep ruby. Aromas of dark cherry, dark plums, dried meat, tobacco, leather. Medium acidity, plenty of soft tannins, dense and intense. Taste of dark cherry, plums, spices, dark chocolate. A true pleasure!

Tasted at a wine group gathering tasting blind. Decanted for sediment. Still has a youngish color. It was well received by the group. Just a very nice wine.

IMHO, this is one of the best Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon Bordeaux blends coming out of Argentina. I’ve enjoyed many vintages going back to 2002 and all have been consistently outstanding. Classy, elegant, food friendly, and cellar worthy. Drink through 2028.

Strong oak tannin showing through (100% new French oak for 18 months) still drinks younger than the vintage. Will likely develop for a long time to come, hiding underneath is a strong mid palate with good acidity. Will see how it develops on day 2.

I did a detailed tasting note back in April 2021. My experience tonight was very similar. Balanced, lengthy, intense, and complex. At ten years there’s more finesse and complexity versus power and primary fruit. Seems to be in a really good place at this juncture. Enjoyed with a thick cut boneless pork chop and peppers and onions. Excellent QPR in the mid $30 range.

initially the nose was a bit off putting and the palate was a bit disjointed. it took a bit, but it come together, but not as good as the last bottles. maybe on its way down

This label is a personal favorite of mine. Enjoyed at a family cookout. Decanted prior to dinner, featuring smoked chicken. A Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, displays a deep ruby, almost purple color, with a full bodied texture. Complex aromas and flavors of black earth, brambly, crushed blackberries, ripe black cherries, black coffee, creamy mocha, and sweet spice.
