Each time I have this wine, I come away thinking I need to remember to have a couple bottles on hand to pair with Italian and serve to a wide variety of guest palates. Consistently plump body, red cherry, plum, smoke and spice improves with ~45-60 minute decant.

I really like this for a food-friendly Italian wine at $17. The nose has some earthy qualities, and there's good richness to the red fruit here, with sour cherry and plum. There's also lively acidity (which makes it pair very well with Italian food involving tomato sauce) and some minerality. Deep garnet. Crushed strawberries, gardenia, and spicy oak nose. light to medium bodied, raspberries, cranberries, green olive, tart cherries, soft but dry tannins, a bit of heat, and a medium finish. Good for its price point.

Dark violet in color with lifted aromas of candied red cherries, cranberry, licorice, and dried herbs. This medium-to-full-bodied wine has a dry and tannic structure but there's lots of dried red fruit at the core with hints of tobacco, basil, mint, and clove. Finishes on a high, slightly tangy note. This is a lovely Barbera. Some red fruit on the nose with hints of mineral, some earthy undertones as well. Bright acidity makes it a great food wine and the fruit and mineral flavors translate nicely. The finish is average and there are a touch of tannins to round things out. Not a wine that will blow you away, but a great mid-week food wine for a pretty decent price.

This is good. Dark color and a nose of cassis, funky earth, and smoke. The taste is like acidic smoked meat with a fruit sauce which makes a nice combo.
