Courtesy of Aegean en route PAR > ATH. Young and quite on the fruit, soft rich, one dimensional at this stage albeit probably this is a good as a time as any for this wine and young and fresh should work better, 87-88

Greek Wine Fair (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Fruit tea, crushed rock, slight garrigue, non delineated red berry fruit. Slight Non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Simple. Hmm.

Smells a bit reductive, but in the territory of Liatiko, I can't say I have enough experience. Roasty like a Canary Island red wine.

Diamond Importers Greece Trip May 2025; 5/2/2025-5/11/2025 (Greece) : 1996 was their first bottling of Liatiko Here, 100% Estate-grown. light garnet color, dark berry palate w/ light bitterness. Medium/- tannin, nice freshness. Liatiko shows uneven ripening across rows and in bunches. It’s noted that there are lots of different Liatiko clones on Crete, and they’re just now starting to investigate them. 2 day cold soak. 70% barrel, 30% Stainless. Comes off more Nebbiolo-esque than I recall. ‘Nerello Mascalese’. Yes, light …

Ran through a vinturi, this wine is more about structure then fruit, the acidity and tannins hold up the somewhat muted cherry and herbal expressions. With food this pops a little more and is worth a try with a meal.

I’m typically a brett fan, but this one is a bit over the top. Huge band aid notes, which I’m afraid mute the fruit potential. Drinkable but that’s about it.

Decent medium bodied red wine with mixed red/black fruit notes. I was a bit distracted by an astringent (metallic?) note in the mid palate. Also quite short.

Local Cretan grape variety "Vidiano"... Big potential. Especially from this winemaker.

The promising Vidiano local Cretan autochthone grape at his maximum expression... Go for this kind of wine you'll be surprised... Positively ;-)
