Domaine de la Courtade Côtes de Provence La Courtade

Had forgotten I had this last bottle, now 16 years old. What a surprise, still fleshy, elegant, subtly spicy and hints of tobacco and licorice. A great proof if it was needed of the ageing potential of this wine.

The wine is definetly maturing, less angular than when first tasted in 1997, lots and lots of body, spicy, mineral, multilayered, very profound, amazing considering it is "only" a Cotes de Provence wine. Still youthful with a lot more years to go.

Very tannic and closed at first, but after a while it began to open up albeit not as much as one would have liked. Could taste tremendous substance underneath, long life ahead.
