Juslyn Vineyards Merlot Estate Spring Mountain

This is probably my favorite Napa area Merlot. The nose is simply devine. Floral notes with a kiss of vanilla and the most supple mouthfeel. So happy I have three more to follow through their development.

Better than my original rating by at least a point. This was wine of the night against a Bordeaux, Jarvis Merlot, and a Hall Howell Mountain. Wonderful mountain fruit expression of Merlot.

Multi-layered in a way that Napa merlot is usually not. Smoke, earth, spice and blackberry on the nose. Well-integrated and balanced on the palate. Atypical for Cali merlot to have this kind of acid backbone which makes it very food-friendly. Finish is long and pleasant.

Very smooth. Great flavors. Got better as it got more air and got to room temp. Perfect timing opening this bottle.

Very clean wine. Berries on the nose. Well-balanced palate. Long, pleasant finish.

I liked this a lot and found it Pomerol-ish with plenty of dark blue and purple notes, showing off a trotanoy sort of truffle and leather. Violet top notes. Positive finish.
