Deep purple color. Very concentrated but a little raw on first taste with intense tannins. Shows more black fruit and spices with aeration. Smoother in day 2.

Deep ruby. Medium intensity on the nose with black plum, black cherry, blackcurrant, bramble, black pepper, licorice, dark chocolate, smoke and dried meat. Developing. Medium plus intensity and dry on the palate. Medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, medium plus body and finish. Can drink now but has potential for aging or further aging. Worth a decant now. Surprisingly good for the price.

This time after some aeration cassis and raspberries are predominant. The alc. is extremely well hidden. Fresh and juicy. Noticeable tannins but they are excellent. Full bodied wine. What a harmony!

Reasonable for the price, nothing special. Bog standard Malbec.

Nose: Stemmy blackberries, blood, and smokey leather. Palate: Austere in nature, leather and cassis, rounded tannins, a sweet cassis re-emerges late on the finish. A really nice example of unoaked French Malbec. Very good. I ended up comparing this to a 2018 Château Lamartine Cuvée Particulière (which is aged in older large format barrels for 12-14 months, and does add 10% Tannat). It was interesting to see how oak influences the wine. Right now, I prefer the Jean-Luc, but I …

Nose: Ripe dark cherries and plums, potting soil, blood. Palate: mildly tart mixed berries (red, black, and blue), velvety tannins, rounded mouthfeel; very simple and enjoyable. Tannins=mod, acid=mod
