Really no need to wait on this. Great value, nothing too complex. Really wonderfully nose actually. It’s Margaux for sure. 2019 is oddly and broadly ready from the multiple wines I’ve tasted

A friend bought this recently for a reasonable price and brought it along to dinner for a collective assessment. The brief conclusion is that he should buy more of it. ~80% Cabernet Sauvignon from a small, long-running family property in Margaux, offering good value as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel. The 2019 is not overtly fruity but it is eminently drinkable now and will last for a while. Among its peers (as I see them), I would rank it slightly lower …

Dunkles rot, fast schwarz, bläuliche Reflexe am Rand, viel rote Frucht, zart unterlegt mit Eukalyptus. Schwarze Kirsche, Brombeere, Maulbeeren. Tabin spürbar, aber nicht zu körnig. weich und fruchtsüß; einschmeichelnd

Enjoyed from magnum with a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner. Decanted prior to dinner. Medium aromas and flavors; lacks depth and intensity, but displays considerable nuance and complexity. At thirteen years, there’s acidity and tannin to support additional cellaring. I just wonder whether there’s enough fruit for the long haul. Very good, just lacks fruit concentration. Drink through 2025+.

Espresso, plumb, currants, and mint on the nose. Round palate, high extraction, and a savory component. Nice now after a short decant.

Had this with burgers, as we do. Tannic, good, ripe. Could use some laying down. I will save these for when the whole family and some other cab/BDX drinkers are around. For once, I find a BDX that compares favorably for the price with my memories of Napa cabs before they got pricey and overripe. Will certainly get better with time.

The Four Seasons Tasting 2005 Bordeaux Second Growth (Aubergine Restaurant) : (Served in Magnum). Aromas of tilled earth and fresh blackcurrants. Fairly intense. A vibrant, fresh entry, this is a medium+ bodied wine that has compact tannins, fine chalky notes and pleasant black fruits without being that characteristic. There is some black fruits with a long-ish powdery finish but not the elegance one associates with Margaux. Finishes with smoke and sinewy textures. Tricky to score as it is a pretty …

QN: deeply colored and very little bordeaux character let alone margaux character. structurally balanced just atypical. from magnum it was not completely integrated and has more life ahead.

Definitely a different wine from the bottle I opened 10 years ago. This is now open for business. For my taste, fruit teetering on flabby. Some pyrazines in show, with bell pepper and sage notes. Not very expressive.

Parchment, black currant, coffee, pencil shavings, green peppercorns, dried mint. This is everything I was hoping for, I'm a sucker for parchment notes in mature Bordeaux. I will agree the fruit isn't super deep and overall it's more savory than sweet but I see that as a plus. This is drinking great (from magnum) and a very solid value. Cheers!

Round, fresh, vibrant, and floral, the red currants and plums in the core of this wine are sweet, ripe, elegant, and energetic. Drink from 2023-2034.

Fair to good. Maybe a bit more energetic in its youth—but that’s all conjecture. Cedar nose. Palate a bit thin, red fruits, but of herbaceousness underneath. Fine acidity and mild tannins. Mid weight. Just average depth. Fine but not exceptional.

Promising signs for Bordeaux 2019 : Cru Bourgeois sampling (Strasbourg, France) : Even better than d'Arsac, more expansive on the nose and you have almost a jammy note of strawberry. The palate packs more punch than the preceding wine, but still quite refined, maybe a bit Pauillac-like. Strongest barrel sample so far for structure and for aging combined with elegance. Riper, and it showed even better over the next few days.

With good color, the wine is medium-bodied and already showing off its nose of espresso, earth, smoke, spice and red fruits. On the palate, one finds soft, silky, fresh, juicy fruits, oak, blackberries and lift. The wine is long, fresh and clean in the red berry and herb filled endnote. 90-92 Pts

Chinese herbs and spices. Umami (bouillon cube), liquorice. Elegant ripe tannins, mellow texture, savoury, medium long. Cured meat, greenery and rose hip on the finish. Could've been more fruity. Quite mild for the vintage.

Decanted 1hr30. Ripe nose of graphite, blackcurrant with light lavender. Palate has firm but fine tannins, lots of acidity with attractive freshness. Fruit is a little under-developed at the moment - quite savoury. Attractive palate but lacks some persistence and depth. Still needs to develop further from here. Drink 2022-2032.

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" Bordeaux 2009 and 2010 (@ PD) : Beautiful and refined bouquet with red and dark berries, laurel, sweet licorice root, herbs, vanilla and a touch of bell pepper. On the palate a juicy wine with ripe red and dark berries, good and fresh acidity and beautifully dosed oak. A really refined wine. Great effort! Already a great pleasure and also a future of at least 4+ years, so until 2022+

Deep carmine - cassis and some graphite on the nose. Medium bodied, very fresh and quite tannic (but fine grained tannins), fairly seamless on the palate: just far, far too young. I have high hopes for this wine, but it is a long way off its drinking window (3-5 years).

A grand example of why to buy Bordeaux wines in great vintages - the wines that are less famous and moderately priced often spike in quality. The wine pours straight out of the bottle unusually dark, almost black to the edge. The aromas are a very inviting combination of black currants, black cherry, earth, and violets. In the mouth, bright acidity, and firm drying tannins frame the same flavors in the nose, but with surprising concentration. But the crowning glory …

Deep color, soft tannins, floral, earthy, blackberry aromas, round textures, ripe fruit and it's early drinking too. Plus, it's fairly priced for a wine from the Margaux appellation. The wine was produced from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.

70% Cabernet Sauvignon 30% Merlot High notes of pencil shavings, salt, minerals, alcohol and back note of dried herbs and red cherries. Palate medium weight, tight and dense, with fine drying tannins and solid acid. Mid palate transitions quickly to a short finish where tannins and acid dominate. Ripe core fruit is hard to find. Dark crimson at the rim, tending to black at the core - shy nose of blackberries and violets. Medium to light bodied (but not lacking in density), featherlight tannins, seamless and with all elements in balance - this is a very classy wine, refined and pure: subtlety is the order of the day here.

Nose is rather mute, with an echo of blackberry but not much else happening. Good typicity, not an exaggerated style. Dark fruit, some sawdust. Appropriate oak. This is a solid wine but one may consider whether the QPR is there.

Planted at 70/30 Cabernet/Merlot. Smooth nose of black cherry, graphite, not terribly expressive, no obvious oak signs. Palate is approachable style at first, soft and subtly lush layers of cassis, gravel, blackberry, light spice, tobacco. Medium plus tannins, medium acidity. Tannins start to add up after a few sips. There's a lot here, recommend decanting if opening now.

Deep maroon color. Medium body. Two hour decant. Lots of ripe black cherry fruits on both the nose and palate, as well as licorice, dill, and gravel notes. An enjoyable quality wine, but it must be noted that there were plenty of tannins; this will likely need a couple years to really hit its stride, lose the rough edges and fruity baby fat.
