Love ZD wines but was never a fan of the reserve PN. Austere and leather. So were my thoughts from the first night. Saved 1.2 bottle for the next day in a 375 ml bottle. Boy was I surprised. Much improved and very enjoyable. I knew their cabs took time to open but now I know that their reserve pinot does too. Score based on the second day.

The age and earth made this bottle almost seem old world. Very interesting wine and we really enjoyed this wine evolve in the glass.

Cherry on the nose. Black cherry, tobacco on the palate. Medium tannins on the finish,with slight tobacco and smoke.

Solid PN. Color of deep rich Red, with medium texture. Nose of ripe cherries with hints of licorice and fresh herbs. Firm, but light tannins and intense cherry flavor overall. Smooth start, juicy bing cherries, grows with vanilla bean and white pepper spice. Finish has a light anise flavor added. Silky throughout and lingers on back off palate.
