This is dense and powerful and really not quite ready for me; very powerful red and purple berry fruits, a bit of floral notes and a whiff of sauvage; I thought this being a Charmes from a warm vintage it may be more approachable, but it wasn't; revisit 2030+

Dinner @ YW's place (Chez YW) : PnP'ed - no nose, nothing. This can't be; So it all went into the decanter straightaway... After 45mins or so, nose of flowers, cherries. Now we're talking... A lithe palate, though length was left a bit wanting. Maybe we had this too young. Overall a very enjoyable wine though...

2 hour slo-o. Fabulous nose of ripe cherries soared from the glass. By hour three the wine really opened and the beautiful fruit blossomed on the palate with grace and finesse before finishing with considerable length. A wonderful wine.

The fruit here is light and fine. There is a fair amount of minerality and a hint of chocolate. Carries itself well on the palate. Sleek Chambolle. But a little disappointing - even with a few hours air, not showing that much complexity. Bumped up a point because the palate got more plush with air, but no big changes. I'll grant you 2006, but still... Ponsot and les Charmes... Not nearly worth $100 by my lights.

Tasting in the dark! Extremely floral and pretty. Is feminine and beautiful but has structure.

Reportedly a Ponsot bottling. Quintessential vintage characteristics, "not an ounce of fat" but exactly enough fruit. Not for everyone, and very different from the '99 version I tried recently, but great if you like 1993s as I do - and more plainly true to the climat.
