I think that this is one of the best Kistler Pinots I’ve ever had. I saw the earlier comments/ratings of this wine, but maybe it was the extended aging that made it so good. The nose had an earthy component to it, like an old Burgundy, but on the palate, it had an underlying acidity to the dark red fruit flavors. It was far more subtle than many of the prior KPs I’ve tasted. I wish I had another bottle!

Still drinking great, regardless of the CT expiration date. If you're storing your bottle correctly, I think it could go another 3-4 years easy. Lots of fruit and the tannins are in check. A very solid effort from Kistler.

Ready to go with 30 minutes of air and it keeps improving. A very fine example of Sonoma Pinot Noir. This probably gets better for the next five to ten years. It has the stuffing to go the distance.

Decanted for an hour before first tasting. Just a short note today: It’s lovely and complex. Tart red fruit, hint of aged caramel. Lively and fresh, yet savory and meaty in a way.

Cherry and raspberry but not harsh or musty, wine has a nice sweetness component. Ready to drink.

Opened 2 hours ahead of a Sonoma Coast pinot dinner. Poured into a Grassl Cru stem. My general impression was that this wine was right down the middle stylistically, as compared to some riper and 'fresher' counterparts. Red fruited with notable oak influence. Labeled at 13.9% but drank a little warmer than that.

14.1% abv. A friend brought this to a backyard gathering at our home. Really good new world RRV Pinot. Plenty of fruit but not jammy or over the top at all - actually in pretty good balance overall. Didn't really have a chance to evaluate it with only one small glass (this was shared by 7 people), but I really enjoyed it with hors d'oeuvres.

During a walkabout event, no detailed tasting notes. From MAG. The Kistler range was very convincing. Elegant, aromatic wines. 94+

Matter of Taste Zurich, Grand Walkaround Tour. Extracted, raspberry type of fruit. This was rich but still elegant with some earthy notes as a compliment. Linear and light.

Prominent earth notes on the nose. Fruit somewhat muted. On the palate, dried cherry and berry with spice and earth and mod + acidity with soft tannins on the finish. We slightly preferred the Hobbs '18 Goldrock that was tasted side-by-side. (Sarah and Claire preferred the Kistler).

With Neeta and Manoj, second wine of the evening with appetizers. Slow oxed then decanted about an hour prior to drinking. Dark ruby color, some bricking. Nose showing dark berry, spice, minerals. Palate of black cherry, cola, savory notes, crushed rock. Shows nice depth through the mid palate, spice and earth. Medium/full body, long finish. Fabulous showing on this evening. Continued to improve in the glass over the time we drank it. This is fully mature at this point, really …

We decided to open our last bottle after the bottle we had yesterday was so disappointing. Fortunately this bottle was in fine shape with no mustiness at all. The color was dark red with a clear edge, dark berry fruit aromas immediately flowed out of the bottle upon opening. The dense fruit was sweet and tasty but gave us the feeling that it needed a couple more years to develop more complexity. The fruit-laden finish was 1 minute +. Wish …

Opened for Thanksgiving dinner. Very musty smell and taste. Drinkable but very disappointing. Mustiness slightly decreased after 2.5-3 hours. We have another bottle so we will give it another chance soon.

Spicy and lush, with deep flavors of cherry and blackberry. The intense spiciness; clove, allspice, white pepper, is what sets this apart. Feels like it has years in front of it.

Fruit forward, extracted, dense, redolent of cherry and raspberry. Needs more cellar time. Loved it! My idea of great Pinot for Syrah lovers!!!
