Fruit is still there, but not much complexity. Good pizza wine

moderate dark and red sour fruits, w/ bracing acidity. more fruit would warrant a higher score.

Incredibly saturated in color and palate for a Barbera. Drinks well but I can't help but think that is not quite true to the varietal. Acidity is low and oak is high. Barbera is usually bright and food friendly. This one is best by itself.

Quick TN: Some oak still detected on the nose and palate. The acidity in this bottle seemed to be overtaking the fruit.

Great wine of it's type. Big dark fruit, zinging acidity, just terrific.

50+4+12+17+8 Decanted for about 30 minutes, continued to open in the glass. Inky plum color. Cherry, vanilla, and licorice on the nose. Fruit forward with black cherry and an undercurrent of leather and supple tanins. Cherry continues into the smooth finish along with cloves, cinnamon, alspice, and finally some moderate acidity. I paired this with rice and beans with chicken, chiles, tomatoes, green peppers, onion, and cumin--perfect pairing! Definitely at the top of it's game right now, I don't think …

this wine is really coming into its own. gained weight since i had it last year. still filled with upfront fruit; and very enjoyable food wine. i generally do not drink barbera's, but now i'm kicking myself i only have 1 left of these. really nice wine... although not the most complex bottle in the cellar...

This was drinking SOOO well. Great example of hybrid Barbera (bigger fruit, some oak, but not too much of either). Dark fruit, great acidity. Was fabulous with fig/gorgonzola appetizers.

Less oak detected than in the previous bottle but it is still noticeable. New world in style - bigger fruit but not over the top, pretty concentrated with good acidity on the back end.

Nice inky purple. Red fruit on the nose. Nice fruit forward initial palate. Dry clean finish with reasonable length. A very nice wine.

tastes a bit roasted. The second day it came around and turned into a very nice barbera. this will be interesting to watch develop over time.

dark ruby red. dense, multi-layered dark fruits covered with juicy acidity. still young but very enjoyable. should have no problem lasting another 10 years.

Blind Night (Giuseppe's, Phoenix) : Soy sauce, green peppers and fresh cut grass. Not pleasurable to drink. I had no idea as to what this was. Off bottle for sure. Brought by Mark.

I loved this wine. perhaps the best Barbera I've had. dark purple. nose of tar, licorice, cherry, and spice. perhaps a little light bodied at first but through the course of the first half of the Superbowl, picked up weight. nice balance. and not nearly as acidic as most barberas. the flavors pick up from attack, actually increasing during mid-palate and finish strong. mostly cherry with cinomon, clove, licorice. a wee bit of bitterness on the end, but a wonderful …

slightly reductive on the nose. took a while to blow off, but left cherries, a bit of alcohol, licorice. boatloads of acid in the mouth with lively red fruit and a touch of iodine. a bit more austere than I remember the first bottle being. my guess is that this will open up and taste better tomorrow.

Tasted in a wine bar. Nice nose with truffle and raspberry. Short finish but I enjoyed the truffle and cassis (coming last) flavor. Also kind of a "cheese" aromas but in a good way. Well balanced with subtle acidity.
