Drank the 2012 Magnum with family. Had expected it to be more fruity on the palette - still soft - but found it to be over its peak drinking. Colour was more brown-red than brick red. The softer palette, not unexpected given its age. I would be drinking it now if one has any bottles left. Only needed an hour airing for one's information.

Green/Stems and black olives. We aged and integrated tannins. Very happy with how this wine has held up to the years.

Needed about an hour of air. Once opened quite good with dark fruit and pepper minerality on finish which diminished with air.

Such a great value and in a really good place. Opens with a lot of savory notes, leather and olives, and gained a jammy edge with air.

Drinking perfectly now. Clear your cellar really is probably nearing the end of the drinking window.

14.7% alcohol, screw top, fast legs, brown/dark-red, imported by USA Wine West LLC, Sausalito, CA; vinturied and tasted at ca 16 degrees C; nose of alcohol, rhubarb, new leather; a full bodied, complex wine; notes of cherries, prunes, rhubarb, kale, new leather, earth; sides of the tongue detect problems with the fruit sweetness and its tannic balance, medium to long finish, with complicated notes; pair with St. Louis ribs, baby back ribs, hard cheese, or drink solo; with its pro's …

Dense, purple color. Aromas of plums, figs, cassis. Mildly spicy flavors, with dark fruits, a bit of earthiness (faded after some time in the glass), and oak. Well balanced, full-bodied, but not too tannic. Excellent with grilled filet mignon.

Dark stewed fruit. A bit jammy with some spice and a green vegetal streak on the mid palate. Not very complex but smooth mouth feel and easy drinking. Give it 30 minutes to open up.

Bought this on a lark at a good price. Hadn't consumed an AUS shiraz in years either. So was a bit surprised to find this rather enjoyable. Simple, but good fruit and spice that went well with burgers.

Again, similar to the prior notes. Needs a brief time to open (at least 30 minutes). Muted dark fruits with pepper and some tobacco notes on finish. Drinking quite well right now. Paired with short ribs on the the last winter weekend how fitting!

This was the super antidote after a bottle of '06 Bordeaux red that was badly compromised by its leaking cork. Wanting to get the horrible taste out of my mouth (I couldn't resist trying it to see if if had gone bad, but it had), the Schild provided the bright berries, powerful presence, and fine quality to make me forget all about it. Screw top sealed the deal!

Needs a few hours decant, judging by the fact that I didn't give this wine the time on my first evening and there was a very pleasant transformation over night - evening 2 presented a lovely shiraz esp for the price. Dark and red berries, graphite, hint of pepper and smoke. I'll be getting a few more and lay them down for a while. I bet these will be lovely in 5-7 years.

This is one of the best values I have tasted this year. Working in the industry, I taste many bottles every week. I have tasted past vintages of this wine and thought it was good, but not this good. The nose is brooding with smoke, charcoal and pepper. On the palate, black cherry and graphite. This has a ton of character and the longest, most balanced finish of a sub $20 wine I have had in a long time. This …

This is good. A bit tight on day 1, but full of leather and rawhide on the nose, it has smoothed out beautifully on the second day, striking an excellent balance between the dark fruit, oak, and alcohol. A great bargain.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Talk about an over-achiever. Spectacular value in high-quality Barossa Shiraz. (Ignore the cheesy-looking label). Deep purple with light ruby edges. Strong legs. Enveloping aromas of dark ripe fruits and exotic spices. A lush full palate, coating every part of the tongue with bevies of berries and tantalizing tannins. The finish lasts for eons. If you like Barossa, you will LOVE this wine, not only for its inherent quality, start to finish, but also for its value that …

Needs to open for a brief half hour in the glass. Once open, blueberry, blackberry, licorice, and pepper rewards the palate. The pepper interestedly evolves as the wine opens, I initially was mistaken in identifying the pepper as mineral. Should last another year in the cellar.

First one of these in just over a year and consistent with my prior note. A big, rich Barossa Shiraz that's not heavy or overdone. Seemed a bit jammy on the initial pour, but with a little air time settled down and opened up nicely. Loaded with tangy plum and black cherry fruit. Finishes incredibly long with lingering notes of spice, oak and pine nuts. Complex, balanced and shows a surprising amount of finesse. 91+ 50+5+12+16+8=91
