It was my first experience with the wine of Slovakia. It was an auspicious start, and certainly placed the country on my wine map. 2017 Château Belá Riesling was perfumed, intense and mineral-driven. The developing Riesling was clear and pale gold in colour without any sediments. It improved gradually over five hours of consumption. Expressive aromas of tangerine, honey and mango were accompanied with sage herbs, gunflint smokiness and a touch of mineral oil. The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied. …

Pale lemon N: pronounced intensity aromas of passion fruit, ripe mango, passion fruit, grapefruit and underripe pineapple. P: pronounced intensity, high acid, medium body, medium to high alcohol. Bold flavours of under ripe pineapple, preserved lemons, melon, grapefruit juice, lemon pith, slight green olive, passionfruits, long finish with a bold salinity. Brought to drink at Oinoscent The wine shows high intensity in the nose, intoxicating with fresh, crispy ice cold citrus, lime, pear notes, knettle, lemon leaves, dried/preserved fruits when it gets a bit warmer. In the palate, the wine shows high acidity, fresh lemon, lime, grapefruit, medium body, nicely balanced, possibly off-dry, a few nutty notes and mineral driven long finish. Reminds me of an Austrian riesling. Outstanding effort and amazing quality for price

Riesling from Slovakia, that I can't figure out wether I like it or not. Difficult which food goes with it. Intens nose with honey, oil, wax. Low acid, creamy texture. palate gives apples, really "fat".

Degustation Dinner & Wine at Amador, Vienna (Amadors Wirtshaus, Grinzinger Str. 86, 1190 Wien, Austria) : A single glass drank as part of the degustation menu at Amador Restaurant, Vienna. Slightly yellow gold. Nose is floral yellow spring flowers and petrol combined. Palate is very good... weight but superb crispness, petrol and slightly oily but very fresh mouthfeel. Light honey emerges. Heady but elegant finish. Stayed very true even after 2+ hours in the glass. 91+
