Was a little cold when opened but even the first sip showed plenty of fruit left after 13 years. Potent nose after warming up with macerated red berries and cassis that are also forward on mid palate with some oak/heat still on the finish. New world style Cabernet that has aged well.

Very fresh and young still. A little alcoholic and really just showing fruit at this stage with a touch of oak. Identifiably new world / warm climate. A little porty on the nose and the palate, like maybe a Californian cab but this is quite dry and tannic on the finish. Good with a ribeye steak. Really shows that good South American cabs can keep well. This has been good from about 3 years after vintage until now 11 years …

This 8 year old version did not disappoint: aromas of blackberry, cassis and pepper, that were slightly woody in nature, led to a palate of cocoa, blackberry, cassis, some smoky notes and a peppery spicy finish with some lovely hints of licorice ... I really thought that wood note from the nose would play a part on the palate but I was happily proven wrong. Has at least a year or two left at this level of enjoyment.

Four nights in Manhatten (Manhatten, NY) : Plenty of dark fruit, fully integrated tannins, green veggies notes, stewed fruit, pleasant with cheese. Drink soon!

This seems to be reaching end of life. Just over one year this was a much more robust wine with strong notes of black cherries and tobacco notes. Now the fruit and tannins are fading in the shadow of very high acidity. May use in coq au vin or short ribs while I try a bottle of the 2011.

Decanted two hours. This wine is bigger on the nose than the palate. The nose has an earthiness and almost a forest floor scent with cedar and wet autumn leaves yielding to a hint of dark berries and even cherry. Similar to the nose on the palate it yields dark fruit, but not as pronounced. Finishes weak. Minimally tannic. I have one more bottle but don't want to let it age too much longer and lose what little fruit is …

I have always loved this wine! It is a little more subtle and approachable than the Don Melchor, with both having tar notes, but this one more relaxed. Very fun, very drinkable and muscular, and quite a value at the price!

deep dark purple in color, menthol, smoke and blueberry pie. a little dusty and tired on the front palate, but some hints of fruit remain. tannins still kicking, but not really well pulled together. OK but not doing it for me.

Decanted for one hour at cellar temp of 60 degrees F. Lively, wonderful nose of blackberry, cherry and blueberry are noticeable before even lifting the glass. On the palate interesting notes of black tar, tobacco and leather combine with the dark fruits in balance with good acidity and medium grained tannins that are all nicely integrated. Given the current tannic backbone and balanced presence of fruit/acidity I would say this has at least another 4-5 years of good drinking. Lovely.

Good value for the dollar. Quite an interesting wine for about $20 that I've paid at SAQ. Definitely needs decanting. Interestingly this wine is much more pronounced in terms of aroma. Definite presence of berries, cassis, black currant, interesting. In terms of finish, - less complex. After such a pronounced aroma you expect more in terms of taste. But it is still good although less complex than expected. Full body. Rich. Short legs and finish. Powerful. Liked it.

Fruit-forward wine, lacking in structure and complexity. Miild oak. OK quaffer. This wine has been significantly better in other vintages. Full disclosure: my wife likes this more than I do.

On opening: quite tight, young, even closed. Some lovely dark fruit here and great grip, acidity. No noticeable green in this today. It needs plenty of air and food to open up... One hour decant and with a medium-cooked sirloin steak - this is wonderful. Like a classic 8-12 year old Bordeaux from a ripe vintage - could pass as a 2000? There is some cassis, plum and nice graininess from tannins beginning to break apart. A touch of some …

Very dark purple turning violet at the rim with a dense nose of violets, dark berries, and spice. The palate is highly concentrated at five years old with a structure that could last another five years. Flavors of currants, cherry, cola, mocha, smoke and vanilla comprise the core of this creamy, velvety textured wine finishing fleshy, but smoothly elegant with a tinge of herbal, minty nuances. Luscious and supple. Excellent work from Concha y Toro, and a go-to value wine …

Whew! Hot, hot, hot. Nose of alcohol and dust... After an hour of decanting, more dusty, but still alcohol. Interesting flavor. Fermented Blackberries followed by a dry, dusty, blend. I understand why some may like this, but I am not a fan. Update...day two, alcohol has dissipated leaving more exaggerated tannins and a little less dust.

On it's own. Still very young. There is a green streak here that fades after 2+ hour decant. Lovely fruit, vanilla, even a little cola. Quite rich and warming. Tannins are soft but still there as pucker mouth with a good swirl. Good on it own, should be great with food. Great QPR. I am going to give this a few more years though. Even better 2 days later (stored cool with inert gas). Green streak has disappeared leaving lovely …

This is a wine that you should probably decant - it did open up on the second day. Fairly dark in color, this cab from concha y toro has intense aromatics of dark fruits, cocoa, cassis, with a similar taste profile. Good body and texture. Lingers on the mouth with a good finish. Recommended.

Dark colour, thick. Smokey with red fruits, leather and burned tires on the nose. Some earth. Dry, medium-body and very fruity with blueberry, cherry and raspberry. Medium oak and log cabin feel. Nutmeg, nice tannin. It is a tasty smooth wine but might be a bit on the lighter side.

One of my favorite everyday drinkers. Light, a bit of bitterness on the finish, but fragrant and fruity. Just don't expect too much from a wine that sells for under $5, and you won't be disappointed. Concha y Toro gives very good value at all its levels.

bright purple color. nose is fun, with lots of ripe berries, some toast and some skittles. medium bodied with medium tannins. initially it was a bit green, but that blew off with time. ripe berries, toast, red licorice and strawberries. a bit light and not very complex but surprisingly enjoyable for the money.

Raspberry jam, crushed limestone, topsoil and touch of cedar box on the nose. Massive amounts of sweet tarts and candied red fruit up front. Traces of minerality in the mid-palate that are quickly run over by acidity and sourness. Finish is incredibly tart and acidic. Like raspberry candies meets grapefruit juice. Slight dusty apricot taste way late on the finish. Very interesting stuff for the $4.50 rice tag. Not amazing by any stretch but good wine to have mid-week with …
