Big (15% on label but surely higher), ripe, Merlot dominated. Unbalanced and beginning to be over the hill. Chocolate and velvety textures for those who like that.

Got half a case of this beauty from a private seller. Unbelievable structure in this wine. Like tasting a bowl of raspberries and cream with hints of tobacco and just a hint of mint. Drank over 3 nights and it improved drastically over the 2nd and 3rd night. Had it with steak and risotto on the 2nd night and with lasagna on the third night. It is so complex yet so delicious . I m just happy I have 5 …

Upon uncorking, a small 1 oz pour reveals equal parts of age/funk, ripe red and black fruits, and soil. I pour myself a little more and let it unwind in my glass as I prepare dinner. 15 minutes later, the wine is more about the fruit, and less so other attributes; most of the funk is gone. The color reveals a gently bricked ruby, faded to the rim and clear. The nose, once fully open at the one hour mark, …

Too soon to drink. Way more fruit up front than previous vintages. I’m a little disappointed but I got such a great deal I bought a ton of it. I hope it mellows out after a few years.

Merlot 70%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%, Cabernet Franc 10% My first experience with this '06 wine, and the first Villa Fidelia I have had since an '04 I had 5 years ago. Inky, dense, somewhat subdued nose. In the mouth, this is unexpectedly well-balanced and old World (dare I say). Much different than the '04. There is some nice bitter chocolate here, menthol, and decaying leaves. The black cherry fruit is here but not prominent. A little bitter on the finish …

Hard to believe this is $20/bottle. In a good drinking window. Inky purple, full-bodied, slightly less complex than I'd like with a relatively short finish. But great QPR. Great wine on a Tuesday night with tacos.

Opened 2 hours prior to pairing with Meatballs in Sugo. A dark purple robe under indirect light, the liquid coating the walls of the glass shimmers, telling there is plenty of ETOH in this wine. The intriguing nose features dark cherry, blackberry, currant and tobacco. On the palate, juicy, dry with extract, noticeable dry tobacco/ash, graphite, oak spices, touch of herbs. Some tannins still present, but largely mitigated with tomato sauce. Excellent acidity (Italian typicity) more apparent when consumed alone. …

Really interesting wine. Lots of fruit on the nose. Very new world for an Italian wine. Yet the flavors were completely different. Somewhat high alcohol and slight acidic kick, some earthy flavors. All in all this was a very impressive and really enjoyable wine. Looking forward to my next bottle...

Just a wonderful wine. Popped and poured, had with marinara and meetballs, and it was a perfect compliment. Good balance, nice acidity, integrated tannins. Very nice, and worth every dime of $25. My third of three bottles, and each was the same. Wish I had bought more.

Enjoyed while cooking, dark color. Nose: earth, dried fruit, plumb. Palate: Dried fruit, earth, some spice, licorice and somewhat disjointed fruit-tannins-acid, probably due to my very short decant. Seemed to open more and more while in the glass. Finish: Medium+ and seemed to hint that it needed a longer decant or time sideways. A good wine that went very well with chicken Parm..

Opaque plum in the glass, with a fair amount of sediment. I let this breathe for ~30 minutes, enjoying the nice bouquet of sweet dark fruit. On the palate, this was clearly a fully mature wine, perhaps even slipping past peak a bit. Plums, with notes of chocolate and smoke; a little muddled on the mid-palate. Tannins were smooth, leading to a medium length finish. Good, but not as impressive as a bottle of the '01 consumed earlier this month …

I seemed to enjoy this wine more than most tasters. Dark red in color with aromas of ripe black fruits. Rich very developed fruit in the mouth with mild tannins and a sweet, long finish. Very international Merlot in character. Served with an Umbrian wild Boar stew and it was delicious.

Seemed to be a step down from prior bottle. Might be simple variation, or might be deteriorating. This wine just has never seemed special to me, and I'm glad I have just one (soon to be zero) bottle left.
