I thought this was rather good. Bright and with a precision lacking in many Greek reds. A tarry expression though fresh and fruity too. Massively poor value though and at 40eur +++ like most Greek higher end reds it has to be a pass.

Young ( no surprise here) but frankly we argued a bit if this wine is better youthful and bring hot than with age. Unfortunately aged examples of these wines are from another era of santorini winemaking so not characteristic to these newer and far better ( technically and so on) bottling. Fresh and rich , well mannered though and not pushed or overdone. Juicy and a good crowd pleaser but much like wines of its age we gpkept on asking …

Too young to fully appreciate I guess. Big oaky wine with smoky flavors. This is in contrast with the acid fruits and a little bitter finish. Potential of 90+ ?

Impressively welcoming even at this young age and granted we only saw a small side of its full potential once it ages this was drinking very well and a crowd pleaser for sure ( in a good way) round and smooth, big on the fruit yet soft on the edges, juicy yet in balance. Very solid wine and an easy 90 For now but with potential for. Few more points if it ages well.

Angelica Wine Club - Mediterranean (Lot One, Potts Point) : baked dark fruits, a little raspberry and currants as well. Spice, cedar, slightly meaty minerality and salinity. Juicy acidity, tight dense tannins, chalky minerality, black cherry and currant.

Retailer tasting (Vianen) : Bouquet with a lot of spiciness and minerals. On the palate juicy red fruits, sweet spices, vanilla, mild acidity and round tannin. Well made wine. Ready now and the next few years.

Very dark ruby-purple. Sweet oak, sweet spices, ripe cherries, plum, sage and floral scents on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins of good quality, rich fruit and medium acidity. Medium-long, oak-dominated aftertaste. Needs further oak integration. Might improve with cellaring.

Greek Chic - A fine wine tutored tasting with Demetri Walters MW (Berry Bros & Rudd, London) : Dark red in colour, lots of density. Light on the nose not very expressive. The palate has an almost amarone feel to it but a lot fresher. Solid wine, rich, big body, lots of extract. Intense wine. Big but not massive. Very distinct . 89.

Dark ruby color. Nose was initially a little hazy but cleared with airing revelaing herbal aromas of sage, lavender and thyme, very ripe black plummy fruit -definitely a warm climate red. On the palate it is velvety with very well managed tannins, good use of oak and sweet finish.

Mavrotragano Wine Tasting (Le Petit Sommelier Restaurant, Athens, Greece) : Dark ruby-purple. Expresive and sweet nose with dark plum, sour cherry jam, sweet spices and sage alongside some floral and mineral scents. Full-bodied and dense with rich, plummy fruit, medium acidity and a long aftertaste. Very hedonistic wine.

Nice nose full of darker fruit, some blue and red as well, and baking spice. Full bodied. Fine tannins, nice acidity. Definite oak influence here, but overall quite nicely balanced. Craves some nice red meat.

(WineGate) Opaq color. The nose is complex, medium intensity, mostly fruits red and black cherries, plum, sweet toast vanilla, after a while you get the feeling of oak being drenched in blueberry juice (strange but in a good way), a bit like blueberry pie (the oak being the pie obviously). The palaste is sweetish, quite fruity but the alcohol offer its burning really quick, the oak is much more obvious, the tannins are strong, high acidity, the wine is trying …

Consistently one of Greece's finest reds, from a producer made famous by his great whites! Dark ruby. Explosive nose with pronounced violets, stony minerality, tar, smoke, sweet spice, plums, creamy oak and dark berries. Med-full bodied, not as big as the 2008 or 2009, but nevertheless creamy-textured with velvety tannins, rich fruit, balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. There is some criticism against this wine for being too modern and international in style hence compromising its regional and varietal identity …
