With a 3 hour decant this wine is absolutely singing. Such a great bouquet and on the palate controlled power, dark chocolate, ripe plums and black currents. This is the highest rating I've given in reviews, so it must be pretty special! There is sweetness in this and it doesn't need to be drunk with food, but only after it's had air time. On this showing, it has many years left, however, it is very approachable now - no need …

Blackberry, cassis, lilacs, caramels, exotic spices; so intense and concentrated, luscious, long, powerful, pleasing, sensuous, beginning to show some age and a little wood, with some grip, but ultimately just indulgent and delightful

For myself, this has not quite reached the heights of the best St. Émilions from the vintage such as the Canon La Gaffeliere and Pavie Decesse. However, that said, it is a good wine in its early drinking window, if a little light end palate and on the finish.

Last one of the case (unfortunately). Lovely nose, still plenty of fruit. No tertiary flavors detected. Still pretty youthful. Without knowing, people thought it was 8-10 years old.

Double decanted for 2 hours. On the nose, I smelled dark fruit, slight mint/herbal notes but definitely more fruit. Upon sipping, I tasted rich dark fruit, plum, and spices with subtle leather. The merlot really stands out in the vintage right now but in a good way. It is a bit more ripe fruit, but the wine is starting to evolve and show its tertiary flavors.

10 hour decant. Tasted at open and the transformation over the hours is stark. The end result is big with ripe dark fruit and elegantly tannins, but appropriately tamed. Much improved over the last bottle 2-3 years ago with half the decant.

This '10 grand vin from Chateau Troplong Mondot was enjoyed at BNO - Holiday Edition in Dallas, TX with some old friends and now new friends. Theme of the night was Champagne & Red Burgundy but we managed to include a few surprises along the way. Tasting notes will be in brevity as we were passing great wines around the table and were having even better conversations. Notes from tasting: Decanted for 1 hour before enjoying - overly tannic and …

Commanderie de Bordeaux: Winter Parlement - Right Bank Retrospective (The Minikahda Club, Mpls) : Very dark red color. Spalsh double decanted; drank a glass over 2 hours. This was a stand in for the '95 which wasn;t up to par. The '10 is a big wine, youthful, powerful, with leather, cassis and blackberry, woody, lots of spice and cedar. Nose is way ahead of the palate. One of those wines you gotta wait to see if it will stick together …

I am not sure how a bottle got into my cellar. Probably because I was planning a 2010 Bordeaux tasting, and I purchased for that. I loathed it. The reason I didn’t give it a 50, was the remains did make a stunningly good coq au vin. This was a ripe vintage anyway, but even so, when alcohol hits 16.2%, you have a wine that is totally unbalanced and hard to find any redeeming note. It was a jammy monster, …

Didn't have time to decant, so this was a PnP. With air, it improved over the course of the evening. Chewy, with notes of tobacco, cherry, raspberry, and cedar. Didn't seem unbalanced despite the high abv (16%), unexpectedly high for a Bordeaux. Still, this is a big wine.

**30m of decanting** This is a really deep purply red. When swirled in the glass it leaves a viscous layer that tints the glass a pale ruby. I love the aromas of musty earth with a bit of chalkiness or loaminess to it. There is still some alcohol forward on first taste, but it recedes to uncover delicate spices, currants, and a feel of sandy soil on the tongue. It feels like it needs more time to age or at …

Blackberry, chocolate, hints of leather and mushroom; beautiful enticing fragrant nose; plush, exhilarating, intense, expansive, fruitful, mouth-coating; truffly and titillating but also powerful and commanding; voluptuous, but with a long linear, almost unending, close; poised and really lovely From 30 Minutes Onward: Nose is more integrated; on palate it is still seductive, but slightly more muted and less intense, though still with a powerful presence and somewhat more grip; at times a little excessive but again really lovely

Expressive nose displaying ripe decadent black fruit, blackberry liqueur, blackberry jam, liquid smoke, caramel, noticeable oak/vanilla, dark spices and mineral. Very good concentration, intense black fruit, rich and full, but also silky, bright acidity, good mineral, fine tannins and a long intense black fruit driven finish with a hint of luxurious oak at the end. Still showing very modern expression but the fruit is not overripe.

16x Bordeaux 2000 : A few observations: 1) It is a very good vintage, but in terms of aromatic depth and layered complexity, it does not reach the level of Bordeaux’s truly great years. 2) The wines have clearly progressed over the past five years. What was once true mainly for the Right Bank, with more openness and approachability, now applies to most Left Bank wines as well. 3) Tertiary aromas are still rare. While the wines are more accessible …

Very expressive, but also a touch of oxidation showing at first,, this blew off with some more air though. Quite spicy, with notes of pepper, sweet and savory spices, some floral notes, dark chocolate, ripe and giving, but with very nice spiciness. Full-bodied, extracted and powerful, with good medium+ acidity. Very fascinating bottle that would have been easy to dismiss in the first few minutes but turned really fascinating in the glass.

Drank next to the 2000 Pavie Decesse which was better balanced. This was rather fruit forward, good structure but felt it might enjoy a few more years of cellaring to really sing. Indeed, 24 hours later it shed some its edge and was more enjoyable.

This is massive!!! decanted for 9 hours. 2010 is a vintage that will easily outlive me. My best 2010's I will not touch for 25+ years, it needs it. Then you take a big, plush right bank and add in 16% alc, and oh boy, you got this Troplong. The fact they can get balance out of this is crazy. This is big, with blueberry, mocha bomb, 5 spice, and some toasty elements. Shocked how balanced it was, but still …

From ex chateau magnum. This was really nice when opened with a complex nose, lots of dark fruit and spices but in glass over opening felt rather rich and higher alcohol. Ripe dark fruit, blackberry and blueberries with lots of oak on the finish. Perhaps a little bit over extracted, and lacks nuance and freshness versus the 2016?

Really delicious wine now but will obviously be better in 5-10 years. Rich fruit and rich herbal and earthy notes - dried mint, dried fennel. Balanced, elegant, and enjoyable. Mostly Merlot with a bit of cab sauv (12%) - unusual for right bank. Drank at La Belles Perdrix, the restaurant at the winery, and maybe the best restaurant meal we’ve ever had.

Brought this to a restaurant dinner with another couple that aren't big wine drinkers because I wanted a crowd pleaser. It definitely delivers in that respect. Nice rich fruit with balanced acidity and no rough edges with the tannins. Lacks complexity but I can't blame it at this age. This definitely feels more new world style. I prefer the 2016 Canon la Gaffeliere to this as it's much more interesting wine with subtly.

The estate's origins trace back to the early 18th century. Initially, it was part of a larger estate, which included what is now Château Pavie. In the early 19th century, Raymond de Sèze, a Bordeaux magistrate, acquired a large portion of this estate. It was his heirs who eventually gave the property its current name, combining "Troplong" from one of the previous owners, and "Mondot," a part of the estate that was particularly renowned for its wine. Throughout the 19th …
