Not the best CC Cab Reserve as it had a tannic edge. Don't think it will get better.

The image is wrong. H3 and reserve are not in the same ballpark. Anyway, this is in a really good place. There are ground coffee and earthy elements to the strong dark berry nose. The fine tannins are well integrated and its acid balance is excellent. Blackberry predominates in the mouth, with a savory element and a touch of morel mushroom. The finish is just OK, being a bit austere, but pretty much long.

No decant. Wood smoke, fresh herbs and earthy undertones. Medium to full bodied with a decent finish. Coffee, mint and plumbs on the finish. Good value as usual. Drink now-2026.

Très bon vin comme apéritif. Accompagne bien un repas de viande.

Bouquet of warm stewed fruits, sweet, dark, and inviting, fairly high alcohol, meaty and savory but warm and comforting, dark cherry, cinnamon and clove, sweet apple, really long finish that left me feeling giddy, will surely revisit

I had the last glass from last night's 2014 Von Strasser Napa Cab that I rated a 91 before we consumed the H3, so an interesting comparison. The 2016 H3 is pretty much varietally correct and is at or near peak, not much wood, lack the depth and complexity of the Von Strasser, but we are looking at 11.99 versus $45, so I would have to say the H3 wins the QPR battle, but the Von Strasser blew my hat …

Purchased for ~$13. Solid QPR here, as Columbia Crest normally is. Dark, almost opaque garnet. Lots of spice and oak notes here, with currant and dark berries. I'm getting more dark red fruits that black or blue fruits. Gentle acidity and mellow tannins. Built for drinking, but this is nice. Grade: A-

Deeply saturated brownish red with very high optical density and medium specular reflectivity. Very intense nose with candied red fruits, earthy aromatic florals, and lifted woodsy spices. The palate is full bodied and bold, with medium acidity. Very rounded tannins provide a structure that is plush, and with a good presence of glycerin, appears to show a density and concentration that is medium plus, providing for a rich and yet transparent profile. Flavours of dark cherry, ripe blackberry, and tasteful …

Nice deep color. Nose of blackberries. Long finish. Marred by an overly sweet finish.

Purchased for $13. What a great deal. Columbia Crest is my favorite QPR winery. Dark, almost opaque garnet. Very lovely nose of oak, spice, vanilla, tar and dark berries. On the palate, sweet dark fruits, vanilla, oak and cocoa. This might actually be a little too sweet. But it's still a great deal. Grade: A-/B+

A bargain for the price. black cherry, currant, spice, some herbs and tobacco. Good balance and nice soft tannins in the finish. Really enjoyed over several hours.

Took awhile to open up, much better on 2nd night. A little simple but satisfying mid-week drinker. Hard to beat the QPR.

Oak and slightly sweet red cherry fruit. It’s better than a poke in the eye, and would work well as a party wine.

Pop n pour with aerator. Oak, oak, oak. Did I mention oak? So much that it overpowered the fruit. If I closed my eyes I could have been in a lumber yard. Recorked and waited for day 2. Much more subtle on second day, dark fruits were able to say hello. Soft to medium tannins. Let it breathe. I’ve been drinking H3 for years, this is the first bottle I’ve had like this.
