Cracked this open tonight and popped it into a decanter. Taste on pop 'n pour was elegant but lacked some richness on the back palate and finish. The nose was a little shy. I think these shortcomings will resolve with a little oxygen exposure. I'll save my full rating until after drink some tomorrow. Day 2: this wine is all there today. Intense aroma of desserts, sweet morning pastries, coffee shops and lattes, herbal after-dinner digestifs, no holes on the …

The wine is a beautiful orange brown color . There's a sweet smell of burrt sugar and real maple syrup. This is like adult candy! The sweetness is balanced by a touch of acidity. Glad I can put it in the fridge and drink it for weeks.

Rocha 1937, S. Leonardo 40YO, Graham’s 2000 & More - Sammamish Port Club (Sammamish, Washington) : Bottled in 2011. Amber-hued with a slight haze from fine sediment. Ethereal and deeply layered aromatics of caramel, red fruit, aged wood, and a touch of dried citrus. The palate is velvety and incredibly refined, with a seamless balance of sweetness, acidity, and aged complexity. Notes of toffee, fig, and walnut unfold toward a long, warming finish with elegant acidity that keeps everything fresh …

Sammamish Port Club - 1970's Ports (Seattle, Washington) : What's not to love about this wine. Amazing vanilla and old dusty wood notes on the nose. On the palate are complex layers of Creme brulee, caramel and orange spice. It is rich and decadent, backed by are focused acidity. The finish comes at you in waves of complexity, with the acidity riding shotgun on the very long finish.

Sammamish Port Club - March 2023 (Seattle, Washington) : Bottled in 2019. Dark amber-orange in color. Wonderful caramel, vanilla and brown sugar on the nose. Rich entry, with caramel and wonderfully smooth flavor profile. This wine always has an amazing balance between the sweetness and lively acidity. This seems much younger than a 40 Year Old Tawny Port.

Sammamish Port Club - October 2022 (Seattle, Washington) : Bottled in 2015. Light amber-orange in color. Subtle nose of citrus and dried lemon. On the palate, there are some nice chocolate and light medicinal notes. Nice long finish, and the acidity is there, but there is just a slight off note on this bottle for me.

Sammamish Port Club Grab Bag (Sammamish, Washington) : Bottled in 2019. Clear, light amber in color. Vanilla, light spices, and dried fruits on the nose. Rich, intense flavor profile with bright acidity and notes of orange spice. This is a touch more elegant in style than I am used to this wine showing.

Forty Year Old Face-Off (Sammamish, Washington) : Bottled in 2015. Amber-orange in color with some light yellow on the rim. Vanilla cream caramel on the nose. Rich caramel and orange spice on the palate. Smooth flavor profile with expansive, mouth-coating mid-palate. This makes me wonder if there might be some white grapes in the blend. Some noticeable acidity on the medium-dry finish.

Woody, orange peel, brown sugar. High acidity gives it a nice freshness, which is mouth-coating but doesn't linger too long. Very nice, but a bid disjointed, as the wood dominates.

40 YO Tawny Vertical : Concentrated sweetness and packed with caramel. Burned figs in caramel with lots of vanilla. It is very cloying to drink and is very off balance. For me it is too sweet but still, it is delicious to drink a single glass of. Bottled in 2015.

2021 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2021-10/2/2021 (Portgugal) : This is a blend of wines from 1962 and 1967. Orange spice and some extremely complex tropical fruits on the nose. Incredibly rich palate with notes of creme brulee, caramel, tropical fruit, and intense acidity. Amazingly long, rich finish with bright but balanced acidity.

2021 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2021-10/2/2021 (Portgugal) : Amber-brown in color. Subdued nose of mahogany, molasses, and a touch of caramel. Very smooth palate with well-balanced sugar and acidity. This is a great sipper! I expected a larger body from this wine, so this might be some slight bottle variation.

Amazing. Had it on the same night that I opened a 63 Taylor and 63 Graham. Tawny vs VP discussion aside, this Sao Leonardo put them both to shame. Unctuous body and breadth of flavors, plenty of acidity to give it great balance. Persistent finish. Up there as one of the best ports i've had.

Tasted blind. Obviously a Tawny but of note is the power and potency here despite the softening effects of age. Hugely complex with a powerful madeira like acidity that gives a sense of severity. Brilliant.

Decidedly better than I remember. Very rich wood flavors, a bit stickier than I typically like but coats the mouth and has staying power. Lots of cherry, smoothed our well.

White Gold with Age : Lovely and creamy texture with peach fruit and a touch of coconut and coffee. It is certainly quite sweet but has lot of acidity also that maintains a very nice balance. Bottled in 2018.

Prefer Taylor smoothness, this feels rough and overly sticky to be honest. Nice qpr but I don’t love it to death for a 40 yo. Good tawny though.
