Château Jean-Pierre Gaussen Bandol Longue Garde

This showed much better than when tasted at the Maison des Vins in Bandol. It also seems to be close to its peak. However, in this magnum format, it probably has another 5+ years. Excellent balance without noticeable alcohol, sufficient acidity and a really nice texture with ripe tannins and no noticeable oak. Long, clean finish. I will buy newer vintages.

Black fruit moving straight into a fleshy, meaty, chewy, barnyard-ie middle with a decently long and very smooth finish... thick and juicy without being the least bit over the top or obnoxious... yum.

Cured meat, leather, licorice, chocolate, tapenade in a ripe plummy backdrop. An unusual wine. Interesting and complex, but comes across as dull due to insufficient acidity.
