Frederic Magnien Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Borniques

I think this is just a rock start wine for the money. We had it at a Burgundy themed dinner. This was the tweener wine between courses. Comments were “lovely “, “Beautiful “, Elegant “. Last bottle for me. Loved it. Wish I had more.

This has good potential, but felt too young; very powerful and somewhat dense; very ripe, doesn't feel out of balance, but close to feeling a bit heavy; I think this will come together more with age and could turn into a beauty

Fun to try this wine, never knew this vineyard existed! Needs about 10 years though. I have another 19 Magnien and will hold it for a while based on this experience.

First experience with F. Magnien. A beautiful wine but a bit reticent and challenging at this early stage; I have no problem opening super young wines, but this could use a short cellar nap. Starts off a bit stemmy (or maybe just reductive?) peppery, rustic on the nose then gradually shows hints of pure wild raspberry/mulberry fruit, some sense of darker ripeness, just very crisp and taut.
