Medium red, good acidity, slight barnyard smell , great dark fruit flavours primarily cherry, tastes ok then the brett takes over! Much anticipation with bad results. Poured out!

2010 burgundy continues to deliver, and this felt right in the zone. Deliciously red fruited, with a nose that really sings from the glass, almost mellow now after 10 years in bottle. This seems great value now, and I regret not having the foresight to buy more when prices were reasonable.

This Burgundy vintage is hardly under the radar but I actually don't think it gets enough credit for being outstanding across the spectrum, that is white, red, regional to grand cru. Somewhat more subdued than my previous note. Decanted, but started drinking afterwards. Very nice nose of coffee, pomegranate, a touch of menthol and some herbs. On the palate the acidity is still very present, but something seemed a little muted. Still loads of cranberry and tart cherry flavors, and a slightly grainy/chalky tannic finish. Still a pretty good showing...maybe grilled cheese was a bad food pairing.

Is there a portmanteau word for a wine that straddles the line between delicious and serious? Delirious? Bacchus or Dionysus would appreciate that. Maybe settle for seriously good? Still not really knit together. Lovely finessed nose of ripe plum and violet and some meatiness and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, quite acidic, with the fruit taking a back seat. Full disclosure: Note entered upon opening, wine still at/near cellar temperature. Outstanding freshness and purity on the nose, really inviting red berry fruit, I'd dive into the glass if I could. This has come together amazingly well. It took about 45 minutes in a decanter to show its fruit properly, but after that it was singing. The wood was noticeable in the first pour, coming off as sweet coffee, but then you get deep red cherries, pomegranate, menthol, some earth. As before, fantastic acidic grip on the palate, and still shows a fair amount of slightly coarse tannin, but a great package.
