Pale gold. Still the same vibrant energy as last year, but without that certain something tonight. Still very decent, but perhaps the peak was last year. I'll be on the lookout for a more recent vintage I think, the entire case was very good (consumed mid 2022 to late 2025).

Savoury and chalky this had flavours of peach with a very light and well-judged toasty and vanilla note. Seasoned with a little pepper the wine developed sweetness on the mid-palate which persisted on a lingering finish. Now at its peak this afforded enormous pleasure. 92 pts

The ripe melon and citrus fruit had pleasing freshness, minerality and crispness underscored with a pleasing layer of cream. In spite of its age, I still picked up a little struck match, but what should have been splendid was soured by a marked bitter note on the finish. CHP 88pts

Bright, with pleasing intensity and structure, this had stone fruit flavours of honeyed peach and apricot seasoned ever so gently with toast and vanilla. The butter and spice came into play on the mid-palate followed by a satisfying length of finish. A perfect match for my pork terrine. CHP 91pts

Just the right side of the ripeness line for me. Well balanced with citrus and hazelnut. Some bitterness on the finish

What a curious bottle. On open quite an aged color and trending that way in nose, with a bit of funk I'd have called premox if just a bit stronger. Quite rich and full palate. Hour or so later way cleaner and showing more fresh fruit, citrus, better balance and length. Enjoyable as it opened, so next bottle I think I'd decant or give hour plus breathing. Not sure bottle age is the way to go now, but maybe it's …

Is this really a six year old wine? It feels far more "vivant" than this, fresh, tart, zesty with delicate white stone fruit, lemon rind and ginger stem. We all obsess about the Cote d'Or, but we overlook the Macon at our peril - when it delivers it does so in style.

Pale yellow. Tart apples and lemon zest, a round appealing palate whilst remaining very refreshing. Excellent.

Night and day versus the Puligny which preceded it, much richer on the palate, with an apple and melon bias ahead of lemon and citrus fruits. There is still that impeccable balance though, with the ripe fruit being tempered by an element of stone which makes this wine a real treat and excellent value despite being at the pricier end of the Macconais.

An excellent bottle, the Maconnais punches above its weight once again. That said this is not a cheap wine, but it is truly fabulous and would cost a great deal more a few miles further north. It has everything - green and yellow fruit (apples and citrus), minerality, acidity - all balanced with a lovely mouthfeel that is rich and inviting whilst remaining tense. Each glass got better as the night went on. Very bourgogne from the first sip. First …

93 Un vinazo en estos momentos. Amarillo pálido verdoso. Nariz limpia, mineral, pero también fruta madura. En boca es excelente, con mucho cuerpo, directo, mineral. Final larguísimo. Grande.

This is beginning to integrate, with the acidity on the palate now playing a supporting role to the fruit as its spreads on the palate rather than gripping the center palate. The nose has opened up to show some earthiness along with the yellow apple fruit. There's not a lot of depth, but I think this will continue to evolve nicely over the next couple years and drink nicely.

Très long.

Pouilly-Fuissé with Jasper Morris MW (Zoom!) : This wine is from Fuisse itself. The most interesting part of the village is the western part (i.e. east-facing) as it has better (limestone) soils as well as a good exposition, and this wine comes from that sector (as does wine #3 tonight). Beguiling nose. Lots of power in this wine, but not that full-bodied, just concentrated. Really tasty. A tropical edge - passion fruit as well as pear - but definitely not …

Deep straw color. The aromas show citrus and pear, and a touch of oak. not terribly complex, but very pleasant. The palate is medium bodied with a broad fruit texture along with a firm acidic spine. Very refreshing and well balanced. This needs a little time in the cellar to continue to unfold. I expect it to relax a bit and show really well in a year.

Lemon, pear, and an overt but balanced application of oak. Good wine while remaining typical of Pouilly-Fuissé.

Pale lemon colour. Medium nose with bread and butter. Medium (+) taste of yellow apples, lemon, bread, butter and vanilla. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium (+) body. A very good Pouilly-Fussé. Goes well with cheese, fish or shellfish.

This had good texture and was more pleasing than the 2016 Birbette due to brighter acidity and scaled back wood.

Really nice aromas of fresh apple, pineapple and hints of banana mix on the nose with some obvious acidity poking through. The acidity is up-front right from the start with bright lime, green apple, white stones. Ends with fresh acidity, preparing the mouth for more. Some warmth from oak does show but is very well played. Overall this is very pleasant and delicous.

Pale straw coloured with an intense creamy toffee filled nose. Rich and weighty with bright lemon fruit, a touch light in the middle with a caramel and toffee note on the finish.
