Doolhof Estate Pinotage Signatures

Short impressions: Dark purple, nose of blueberries and some leather. Soft on the plate, quite broad, dark fruit, blueberry juice. Just not enough structure for me. Medium finish. Pinotage is not for me it seems.Good only. Drink or hold.

Dark purple-red in the glass, with a lovely nose of chocolate, coffee and dark fruits. More dark fruit and coffee on the palate over rustic, earthy notes and slightly rough tannins. Falls a bit short at the finish, but this is still a very impressive Pinotage.

The 2005 Signatures of Doolhof Pinotage was very dark with a red rim. It had the most attractive sweet upfront fruit followed by intriguing coffee tones. WinemakerTherese Swart said the wine had been aged almost a year in 80% French/10% American oak barrels of which 70% were new.
