Knocking down the annual vertical! (1/3) — I'm really impressed with the 2016 for having held up as well as it has. The distinct coffee flavors have long since faded, of course, but the bitterness plays appropriately with the cacao sweetness to provide a nice adjunct backbone and also add a bit of heft to the mouthfeel. I've had FAR worse 3-year-old adjunct stouts, and that is by no means meant as a backhanded compliment.

4-year vertical! Given how well the '15 has held up, this was a bit of a letdown. Some oxidation is definitely present, muting the nose. On the palate, some sweeter chocolate comes through, with almost leathery notes on the finish, but the body feels a touch thinner and there's just not as much going on here as there was in the earlier vintage.
