Sweet nose, dry palate. Honey, orange marmalade, ginger, mushroom, oak. High acidity, big structure, soft texture and salinity, minerality. Wonderfully matured old white burgundy.

Tasted double blind. This showed fantastic. I particularly liked the superb purity fruit… it was almost all tropical fruit (I usually don’t like the strong pineapple notes I had here) but all so fresh and pure. The acidity was probably a bit too pronounced here but nevertheless, this was still a fantastic white. 95/96pts. TN: Ripe orchard fruit with more tropical fruits (pineapple for me) and a touch of sweetness but still elegant. With time a nice minty freshness. On …

Excellent, fresh, combines a buttery toasty side with a deep mineralic, flinty top note. Very grand today again.

Had this twice over the last weeks and it showed stellar. Lots of lemon curd, pronounced sea shells, deep and complex with excellent freshness and broad Batard shoulders. Top!

Absolutely brilliant showing. Super explosive, rich, mineral driven and layered, it‘s showing beautiful notes of citrus, lemon oil, seashell and oystershell minerality, but also buttery, rich layred notes typical of Batard. Pretty full-bodied, but fresh, with medium-high acidity and superb tension. Long finish that is just piling up. Superb.

Robe jaune safran...

2nd time i've had this wine of late. 1st showing was horrifically oxidized and not worth drinking. this bottle, on the other hand, was completely on point. intense aromas of lemon and acacia. great power on the palate with enough acidity to balance it out. terrific length and flavor authority. such a terrific drink; and such a contrast to the previous bottle. both bottles were from the same cellar; purchased at the same time; and with no difference at all …

Had it twice within a few months. First during a Paulée dinner. Nose of crushed corn, lemon peel, cream (96+). Then again at a Burgundy dinner where it was even better, crisp and mineralic but also creamy, deep floral, stony, lemon aromatics (97). Very complex and elegant white Burg. True Grand Cru pedigree here. Wow level Chard Combined score: 97

Color a little more evolved looking, but nose and taste fresh and attractive - perfect for the uni pairing

Dinner at The Bristol (Chicago, IL) : This had the colour of a young Sauternes, which was already the first warning sign. The nose showed some orange peel and really ripe yellow fruit flavours; something that didn't quite seem characteristic for the 2008 vintage. The palate though would have been good as a dry Sauternes; as white Burgundy, it's very questionable. This showed some botrytis and an odd sweetness that was hard to reconcile with everything else. Advanced? Poxed?

Bourgogne Wine Alliance, Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Hospices de Beaune - Beaune France) : Tasting, brief note. My favorite of the vertical. Wonderful array of orchard and stone fruit with hints of lemon peel. Powerful and excellent minerally textures on long finish. Very good concentration start-to-finish.

Open from the get go. Big honeysuckle and peach notes in the nose. Rich with beautiful texture on the palate. Well balanced with nice acidity on the finish. Beautiful now.

95 pts

Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Everest - Chicago IL) : Double decanted 20-30 minutes before serving. Don't recall if I have had this before, but it came across as subtle to start, particularly on the nose. I like the flavors, but didn't find the complexity I was expecting.

This started similar to the previous bottle, but with extended air the chardonnay fruit really picked up weight and length, and the heat and sweetness largely dissipated. Finish shows reasonable acidity for further aging.
