This is just so so. Both the nose and the mouth a little stingy. Not a bad bottle, just not much to offer. A little bit of plums on the nose, maybe a touch of rosy floral. Muted palate with a few really soft fruit notes and acid at the end. It did have a nice silky mouthfeel, the best aspect of the whole experience. Yawn. A recently consumed 2005 Bouchard Volnay Caillerets would have pulled this ones’ pants down …

A gorgeous, but still quite youthful, bottle with plentiful and pure red cherry fruits laced with florals. Still on the sturdier side with upside as it softens and gains even more nuance.

Agree with every word in acyso’s note. Plum on the nose gives way to a meaty note. Good weight if light. Raspberry and pleasant heat on the long, slightly electric finish. Savory. Delicious.

Cuvée 312 Launch Party (Chicago, IL) : A lovely red-fruited profile; very 2007. In comparison to the CCD, this is more meaty and earthy, but on the palate, the crisp red fruit and bright perfume really help balance the wine. Ready now, though this is in no risk of decline.

Tasted over 2 hrs -med dark red mild bricking -sweet sous bois faded red cherry dried flowers -med acidity, med/med- weight sweet earthy sous bois finishes with a bitter mineral herby note, slightly dried out delicate med- tannins -elegant yet mildly rustic, very good now in full maturity, a bit more advanced than I expected

(SYP) PNP Lovely nose of spices, ripe red berries, wood and vegetation. Fresh but quite firm and structured. Some dried dates with 3 hours of air, and also got smoother. Still grippy tannins, even a bit angular, with a touch of warmth too. This could use a 5 more years. 91+

I like this a lot, another one of my favorite bottlings. Still young and will continue to improve, happy to have a case in storage when nobody wants ‘07 Burgundy. Probably another 2 points upside from here when it reaches peak. I am hopeful ‘07 Volnay will be much better than anyone’s initial EP forecast.

More elegant and refined than the others, and more expressive on the nose with hints of rose petal and savory elements too like shrimp paste. Light in body but with some pungency. Popped and poured at cellar temp. Lovely translucent cherry red color with some bricking on the rim. Saddle leather, iron and rose petals on a somewhat reserved nose. Much more expressive on the palate, with rose hips, cranberry and dark cherry fruit nicely balanced with crisp acid filled finish. Really supple texture. Still think this wine has another gear and some more patience will be rewarded.

Book circle dinner: Kazuo Ishiguro Remains of the Day (at my home) : drinking really well right now - has a steely side note that betrays the vintage but also good fruit with some dried cherries and cranberries mixed in with raspberry. Some slight hints of maturity with leather and spice but not by much. No idea of how this will evolve. But I don't think its peaking really.

Grumpy on opening, so I decanted. After half an hour this came to life and was very good. Red fruit and earthy notes. Showing some secondary notes, this is drinking wonderfully.

On the first bottle, In thought I got much more in the earthy black fruit side, but this one was just fresh red cherries, and oh so pretty and delicate all the way through the palate. It definitely is in the medium to light bodied, but stayed persistent for a nice long finish even so. Seems to have plenty of life in it to my palate.

This wine is just gorgeous and 100% in my stylistic wheelhouse. Light ruby and bursting with red fruits. Smells like a just picked cherry. Earthy elements play a secondary role. Pure, elegant and lovely. (93)

Volnay 1er Cru Virtual tasting (Planet Earth) : In 07/01/95 vertical. Plenty of red cherry and berry with floral and spice notes that are classically Volnay and very charming. Faint earth hints. Good weight, but this wine gets by on its elegance, not power. Possibly some further upside, but I like where this is right now.
